As the doors opened Yingyue felt the attention on her. She knew it would be it was her wedding. Yet all the stares was a little more than she was expecting. She tried to not look at those down the isles as she passed, trying so hard to just keep her gaze on the front. At her groom. At the man she was marrying.
He looked amazing, like actually so so good. His hair was pushed back off his forehead and those gold wire frames, the ones he still looked so good in, they were gone. Obviously choosing to use contacts for the photos later on. His black suit was crisp and tailored to him so specifically that it just made him look surreal. And when they made eye contact, this whole event really felt worth it.
Ximen didn't think Yingyue could ever get more beautiful than she already was. He knew she was out of his league he had done for years. Yet now, in the wedding dress he proved himself wrong. Yingyue could always get more and more beautiful she would forever be miles out of his league. She was just stunning. Absolutely stunning. He couldn't help but tear up knowing this was real, she was his and his forever. He was finally marrying the woman he loved and he couldn't be any happier. They were tears of pure joy, pure happiness and he embraced them.
The moment she was handed over by her father and their hands combined it felt like the world had stopped. If Yingyue could pause life and spend forever just in one moment, this would be it. She would spend forever at the alter with the love of her life.
"Dearly beloved, today we are here to witness the union between this man and woman. Our bride and groom have decided to write their own vows." The minister started motioning to Ximen to start off first.
"I Yan Ximen, take you, Jiang Yingyue to be my wife. I remember the first day we met all those years ago, I can clearly recall just how beautiful you were and how even back then you made my heart race. Who would have thought all these years later I feel the exact same as I did back then every single time I see you. You make me feel like the luckiest man alive, so loved so cherished and so adored. Your kind loving heart made a space just for me and I am so thankful you opened it up to little old me. It is these qualities in you that I love so much and I can only imagine will continue to light my life just as much as the lamp in our bedroom does when I turn it on. I promise to love you forever, treat you like the queen you are, and forever cherish you as the most beautiful and wonderful human being ever created. I promise to allow you to chose the TV channel when I read and to allow you to push the trolley every time we go shopping. " Yingyue had tightened her grip on Ximen's hands during this time her tears fully gather and running down her face by this point. During his speech Ximen had placed the gold band upon Yingyue's ring finger taking it slowly and gently ensuring it was only fully and securely on as he finished his vows.
"I Jiang Yingyue, take you, Yan Ximen to be my wedded husband. Our lives together has felt nothing short of the fairytale I always dreamed about as a young girl. The best news of my life came that day when I was introduced to you as my appointed husband. We might have required just a little push to finally get together but I have never been shy to admit that my feelings for you developed way before that day. I fall in love with you every time I see you, whether your head is buried in your latest book or you're goofing around in the kitchen. I always wonder where the limit of my love is but with you I really do feel as though it is endless. You always put me first, you always look out for me and make me feel loved, you never fail to remind me just how much you care and how important I am to you. And I always want you to know that despite not being the best with words that I promise I love you just as much as you love me and just a fraction more. I promise to always be by your side and to forever keep you in my heart." Her voice had broken as she continued to pour her heart out into her words but as she was met with just as equally emotional Ximen she knew it didn't matter. Yingyue struggled just a little more than her other half to put the ring on the emotion making it so her hands shook as she tried to gently encourage it onto his ring finger.
"And by the power invested in me, I pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride." And as the minister spoke those words they did kiss, for the very first time as husband and wife. And as the turned and took the walkway out of the chapel as husband and wife, Yingyue knew nothing anybody did would ruin this day for her.
A confetti bridge was what met the pair as soon as they stepped over the threshold of the church the loud cheering of their friends accompanying the small shapes of tissue paper. The photography started very soon after and felt like it took forever, but it would be worth it in the end. The next step was to move to the reception. This meant taking the car with the 'Just married' ribbons on it and despite it being cheesy and a little over the top considering how their friends had decorated it, Yingyue couldn't keep the smile off her face.
Not when she was gently led and helped into the back of the car. Not when she was sat waiting for them to pull away and in the direction of the country manor they planned to have the reception in. Not when she sat through the endless number of speeches given by her loved ones and guests. And not when she was pulled to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife.
Contrary to popular belief, Xiemna and Yingyue hadn't bothered to get their wedding dance choreographed, rather decided they would just wing it. Considering how many formal dances they had been to over the years, and how many times they had danced together before, Yingyue knew it wasn't needed. She knew every move he would pull and trusted him to ensure they would remain looking professional whilst also as hopelessly in love as they both were.
"I love you Yingyue, my wife."
"And I love you my dashing Husband."
Author's note:
We finally reached the scene many of you have been anxiously waiting for. I'm sorry this isn't very long but I wanted it to be a short little sweet moment celebrating just the relationship between these two characters. I've been going back and forth over the last few bits of this for a couple days, considering I have never written a wedding before. And hence why it is so short.
Fingers crossed we can maybe get onto the next part you have all been waiting for.
Also it felt right for this chapter to be number 50 as a big milestone in both the characters relationship and the book itself considering I've never written one this big.
Thank you all for your continued support.
