"You play a really good psychopath dad." I chuckle as we walk out of the theater at two in the morning.
"Thank you." He takes a bow.
"What did you think of me?" Tom asks taking a handful of the leftover popcorn I'm holding in my arms.
"You were a very cute Spider-Man." I kiss his cheek.
"I don't think Peter Parker would like to be called cute." Tom makes a face and I just shake my head.
"I have other things to comment about but I can't say them here." I smirk seductively at Tom. he blushes.
"Oh god! Don't do that." My dad makes a disgusted face and I throw my head back and laugh, Toms blush gets deeper. We finish our walk back to the apartment and settle into bed.
The next morning I wake up still feeling tired but feeling alright. Toms still asleep beside me so I cautiously get up to go find something to occupy my mind. The movie last night was really fun and what I needed. But I still have treatment in three days now.
Tom has been overprotective saying I should be in bed resting or getting me food and bringing it back to my bed. My dads not as clingy but still says to take it easy. He knows me better than anyone, and I can't stay still for very long.
I get up to get something quick to eat then going to the couch to write some more. No one knows this but I've contacted a possible publisher thanks to Dom's recommendation. He's the only one who knows about it. The past few days instead of writing the sequel I've been editing the first one to make it more like I am now.
I finished editing it yesterday and emailed it to the publisher Dom recommended. He got me this offer and I don't know how to repay him. He said just being with his son and making him happy is all payment needed. I love how close his family is.
As I open and put my password into my computer a notification for an email from the publishing company respond. My heart races as I click on it and read what it says.
Dear Rain,
I'm happy to inform you that I really enjoyed your book. My colleagues and I would like to discuss further details and work something out for the benefit of you and how this book will make it. It will come with a contract but mostly on your terms. Please let me know how you feel by the end of the week.
From Derek Roberets.
I cover my mouth in shock and reread the email many times before it settles in. They want to publish my book! I never thought that this would ever happen. I never thought in a million years I'd ever be published.
The first thing I do is respond to the email and ask what available times they have for meetings. The next thing I do is call Dom to thank him and ask him not to tell Tom or anyone else. He gives me his word and congratulates me. I can't stop smiling. I catch up with Dom for a bit when Tom walks out of the room.
"I have to go, bye." I wait for Dom to respond before hanging up and closing my laptop.
"Who was that?" Tom asks yawning.
"Just Ivy asking if I want to hang out today." I lie.
"Are you going to?" Tom asks taking a seat next to me.
"I don't know, what do you want to do today?" He's leaving the day after my first round so I want to spend all I can with him.
"You can spend time with Ivy, I'll be ok on my own." He reassures me.
"Yeah but she's not leaving in four days." I frown playing with our intertwined hands.
"I'll do whatever you want to do." Tom brings my hand up to his mouth and kisses my knuckles. They still look like twigs but thicker.
