The sound of a hospital monitor is the first thing I hear.
The sent of bleach and hand sanitizer is the first thing I smell.
The warmth of a large hand holding mine is the first thing I feel.
I open my eyes and stare at the white ceiling. I look down to see kylie sleeping in a chair across the room. Dillon was sitting in a chair next to my bed, holding my hand while he laid his head down on the bed.
I moved my hand out of his and brought it up to his face. I moved his hair out of the way and stroked his cheek. He groaned slightly and moved his face away. Suddenly he shot straight up and looked at me. His expression was one of happiness and relief. But it was quickly covered by an angry one.
"Why would you do that! I was so worried, I had to drag your body up on shore and bring you back to life!" He voice raised and slightly cracked.
I looked away and a tear fell out of my eye. "I didn't want to live. I still don't want to live." I moved my gaze back on him. "Why couldn't you let me do that?"
He looked shocked, then determined. "Because I love you. You are the most precious thing in my life right now and im not going to let you go. No matter how many times you try, I will be there to bring you back."
More tears were falling and I big my lip to keep myself from sobbing. I nodded "okay". I pulled him to me and kissed him hard. He pulled me closer and kissed back. We pulled away and rested our foreheads together.
I moved over and patted the empty side of my bed, signaling him lay with me. He got in, under the covers, wrapped his arm around my wait and pulled me to his chest.
We just laid there tangled with each other, I closed my eyes, content, and drifted to sleep with the sound of his heart beating in his chest.
