If Only Things Were Different

Chapter 6

Kakashi and Naruto met at the Hokage's office and is now waiting for Sakura and for her report but it has been a little while but there's no sign of her and it is almost sundown. Kakashi got suspicious whilst Tsunade got worried.

"Kakashi, find Sakura now!"

Kakashi went with other anbu and searched for Sakura but Naruto remained.

"What are you still doing here, Naruto?"

"Tell me what's going on baasan."

Tsunade sighed, knowing how he won't stop until he gets the answer he wants, she gave in.

"Karin Kikuchi is connected to the Uchiha's. Her being an Uchiha, the half-sister of Sasuke's brother's best friend, she could know where Itachi is or hopefully, where Sasuke is."

"This is about Sasuke and you didn't bother telling me?"

Tsunade pressed her temples with both palms in frustration, "I presumed you have understood the situation with the conversation we had earlier before setting off to find Karin, you should have grasped the information you heard by then."

"How am I supposed to understand that?"

"You're a ninja, Uzumaki Naruto! You should be aware."

Naruto eyes widened.

"Don't make me put you back in the academy, Naruto."

Naruto formed fists as he clenched his teeth, "I'm going to take Karin-sensei back."

"Naruto, a Kikuchi is very precise with their targets. They are all a very talented shinobi, don't be stupid and reckless now. You might end up dead and we need you here Naruto."

"What should I do? She's the only one that could possibly tell us where Sasuke is!"

"I know, Naruto and we would have Itachi here in the village!"

Karin sat under the tree's shade, waiting for her older brother to arrive.

"Why did you come to get me? I thought my brother wouldn't let you come near me?" She asked the man who is as tall as his brother and with the same features as them but only, the man had straight hair.

"What happened before doesn't change the fact that we were once close with each other, Rin," the man said in his usual deep, monotone voice.

"Why did you do it?" She asked.

"There are some things left unsaid, Rin."

"I am not Sasuke, Itachi."

Itachi looked down on her at the mention of his brother's name.

"You are the most dangerous criminal from Konoha alongside Orochimaru," she said. "What are you going to do about it?"

"What did you get?" He asked, making Karin think he doesn't mind.

"They're looking for Sasuke."

"Is that all?"

"I have copies of every blueprint and I have the map of the village. It'll make everything easier when the time comes."

"And the shinobis?"

She squinted her eyes on him, "I'll hand it over to him myself."

"Itachi," a man spoke but with a hint of seriousness in his voice.

"Nii-sama," Karin said.

"Come, Karin." Shisui ushered her away from Itachi.

"If you have no trust in me with your sister, why did you agree for me to fetch her?" Itachi said. Stoic, staring directly into his best friend's eyes.
