The ringing of clashing swords echoed through the forest, scaring the nearby, lower ranking beasts away.

One loud clang was followed by a spinning sword flying away and landing with a thud as the sword implanted itself on the ground.

Silence followed. The wielder of the sword that got sent flying was standing in a clearing of the forest, a sword pointed at her throat.

Someone was dragged out. Screaming and thrashing as she constantly sent hateful glares at the woman next to the man who was holding the sword to the other woman's throat.

"Kill her." The man ordered to one of his men.

"Yes." The man complied as he swung his sword down, cleanly cutting the woman's head off.

"This will be what happens to you. Despicable, disgusting woman who is man-hungry, greedy, and even unable to treat your own family with fairness. You're name does not suit you." The woman who's throat was about to be cut just stood there. A bitter smile on her face yet her eyes was filled with gentleness. Her obsidian black hair fell to her waist and even though she was near death, her beauty was not effected, instead it only enhanced it.

Her head was lowered not letting anyone see what she was thinking she simply laughed. Her melodious voice rung out. It was not crazed or bitter. It was gentle, beautiful.

"Your highness, sister. This is where I'll say goodbye." She looked up and stared at the girl, the one that will later become the Empress herself. Her hands lit up as a ball flew towards the female.

"Ling'er!" The man screamed, he quickly slashed the woman's throat as he tried to block the incoming light. But he was too late. However, to his surprise his beloved woman didn't fall instead she stood there, her eyes widening. "Ling'er are you okay? Ling'er? Answer me!" He screamed but the woman wouldn't respond. All that she could think of was the laughter. The joy. That happiness.

A tear slipped out of the corner of her eyes.

"What?! That's it? Nooo, where's the next chapter?!" I screamed in frustration as I sat alone in a bus that was driving down a road. I was heading back home from work and had seen that one of my favorite novels had updated. With vigor I read through the chapter only for it to end on a cliffhanger. Again.

A young woman was sitting alone in the back of a bus took a deep breath as as she forced herself to calm down. As a business woman she has learned to control her emotions and keep a cold poker face when necessary. But sometimes, it just doesn't work. Like in this situation.

Basically what had just happened was that Zheng YiRong, the sister of the main character Zheng YiLing, died. And it seemed as if something had happened before the story started. She had always been suspicious of Zheng YiRong since Zheng YiLing couldn't seem to remember anything about her.

Zheng YiRong also never deliberately harmed her sister.

Zheng YiRong was the oldest sister of the heroine, YiLing, and also known as the number one beauty of the capital, even YiLing couldn't compare, even after she unlocked her seal and recovered her original appearance after the main owner of the body died and a new soul occupied it.

She let out a sigh as she leaned back into her seat. Closing her eyes she was about to leave for dreamland till a sudden jerk made her eyes snap open once again. They had been driving through a valley between two hills about to get on the bridge when a deer had jumped onto the road, making the bus driver jerk sideway, missing the rocky hills, but right down towards the river.

It might not have been so bad if they had fallen into the river but they missed, and fell onto the banks, making the bus explode. Killing the bus driver and the woman immediately.

She swore that she could see it in slow mode as they fell down and crash. As the heat licked its way up her arms before the explosion happened.

She had always said that when she die, she wanted it to be quick and painless, but even though this was quick, it was not in any way painless. Everything happened too slowly. She could only watch with  no control over her body.

BOOM!

And she died. Or so she thought.

Think fast. The woman heard a voice say in her head as her eyes snapped open, welcoming an unfamiliar sense. Hundreds of people were scrambling around in what seemed like a garden, everyone was dressed weirdly, like the dresses and clothes that she saw on Chinese dramas.

Screams echoed through the area as she could heard the sound of arrows hitting their marks. Of iron striking flesh.

She frantically looked around in panic when a figure caught her eyes. A person dressed in black was carefully aiming at a figure.

Empress. The sudden thought made her want to slap herself. Empress? That was so 5,000 years ago. But as she looked closely at the woman, her(empress) familiar face made the woman freeze. Unconsciously she ran for her(empress) as the arrow left it's strings.

Again everything seemed to slow down, but this time she could move.

"Your Majesty!" She yelled as she jumped onto the lap of the female(empress) as the arrow hit her right in the stomach, pain shook my body, but before she lost her consciousness, she looked up into the face of the woman(empress) who's eyes had widened in shock. "Please take care of my sister, YiLing for me." And the woman blacked out.

****

A pretty short chapter one, but hopefully it was still good.
