Zheng YiLing's eyes snapped opened, a cold glare that seemed to bore into the soul of YiRong. YiRong however just smiled as she sat back down onto the seat.
"I apologize for waking you up when you're healing from such wounds, however... who are you?" YiRong asked with a small indifferent smile.
"I can be asking the same thing," the sweet voice, that used to be so full of energy and brightness, was sharp like a knife. YiLing had sat up, the wounds were gone, leaving a small scar, due to the fact that she had been treated with some of the best medicines in the world.
"Hmmmm, I believe I was the sister of the previous soul." YiRong answered with a smile, as if she was saying something obvious. The girl on the bed said nothing, "In case you are weary of me, I can assure that I mean no harm, I'm very well aware that my sister, who couldn't- didn't-cultivate could have survived. You are obviously very different from my sister."
The girl on bed continued to stare at YiRong, "You're right. You're sister died due to your carelessness, clearly, you had some enemies but you didn't properly protect her." YiRong stared at the girl with a raised brow. YiRong was willing to bet on her life that this was the plot line interfering, even if she had BaiGui protect her, she would've probably still died. The power of the plot line wasn't to be underestimated.
"You see, Ling'er was destined to die, even if I had the Demon King guard YiLing, she would've died."
"...What do you mean?" YiLing asked but didn't receive a reply.
"Like I've said before, I mean you no harm, after all you're occupying my sister's body, even if the soul is different I plan on protecting you as much as I can. Even if I can't cultivate." YiRong said, a small smile gracing her lips, "Anyways, please continue to rest, since my sister trusted her body to you, I believe that you'll take good care of it." She got up from the chair and left with the door clicking shut softly.
YiLing narrowed her eyes at now closed door, frowning. Reviewing the previous body's memory she saw realized that it was her previous body's actions that led to her dying, the sister, YiRong has done nothing but protecting the previous soul and it was clear that YiRong was quite a dangerous person, regardless of the fact that she couldn't cultivate.
YiLing massaged her head. Things were complicated enough with the fact that she's in a completely new surrounding but coupled with the fact that she couldn't tell what her, now own sister was thinking, despite the fact she could easily read someone but for YiRong all YiLing could see was a blank canvas.
It doesn't matter, if she gets in my way I'll just kill her. She decided.
The next day, it was clear that YiLing changed a great deal. With her quietly moving out of the room and going into the library where LiQin was. The woman looked up at the girl, eyebrows raised at the cold aura that was emitted from her, LiQin knew she was different.
Even more so when the young girl went to the training grounds where BaiGui was, asking him to teach her how to cultivate, reviewing the memory, she knew that BaiGui was a strong cultivator. However, BaiGui went to YiRong to get permission before doing anything.
YiLing frowned, why did he have to ask her sister if he could do something? Doesn't he have any free will. YiLing decided, it seems that her sister ran her people like slaves. Otherwise why else would he need permission to do something?
YiRong soon returned with BaiGui behind her slightly, making YiLing further stone her thoughts, "So it seems you want to learn how to cultivate?" She asked, eyebrows raised in amusement. YiLing didn't answer, keeping her face cold and impassive. "Hmmm, I'll take that as a no," she turned to BaiGui who shrugged in turn. YiRong then turned and left without another word as BaiGui returned to his training.
YiLing went up to BaiGui again and once again requested him to teach her but BaiGui completely ignored her, making YiLing frown.
"Young miss, if you have nothing to do, please don't bother this lowly servant and go back to the imperial palace." He replied coldly when YiLing went in again to ask.
"I am simply asking if you're willing to teach me."
"As I've said-"
"You need to get permission from Zheng YiRong? Why? Don't you have any free will? Or does she threaten you to-" YiLing was cut off abruptly as a sword settled onto her neck. The cold metal sharp and lethal, just another move and her head would be detached from her body.
"Please refrain from dragging the princess' name through the mud, I don't know what you've done to the previous owner of the body, but I am putting up with you because you're still the princess' sister and my will is to serve my princess." He moved the sword away from the neck and walked off, the other soldiers and guard staring at YiLing with a frown.
YiLing stood there shocked, in her previous life she was an assassin, the fact she couldn't even react to the sword and couldn't move due to the overwhelming amount of bloodlust directed towards her made her realize she was in a different world, and if he wanted, he could have easily ended her life.
That's when she realized, BaiGui had wanted to ask her sister for permission because he respected her and willingly followed her and wanted to get an affirmative before he did anything. It was not that he didn't have any free will, but his will was to serve his miss the best he could.
When YiLing looked back at her memory she wanted to dig herself a hole because of how she simply assumed what YiRong was like. She decided to go and apologize to her sister and the guard.
