1 - Storyboarding

The first thing that I find most important to consider before you work on and publish any story is the storyboarding – it's when you sit down and brainstorm about the synopsis of the story.

How does the story begin?

What is the concept/idea of the story?

How will the story end?

Now, I'm sure the first and second questions are pretty self explanatory. The third, however, is something that should be thought out very well. Let's take an example for this – say I want to write a love story for my all time favorite Naruto character Uchiha Itachi [cue Itachi fangirl screams here XD]. Yes, the whole point of the story is that my OC will fall in love with Itachi...but what's the real ending going to be?

Are Itachi and the OC going to return to Konoha and live happily ever after, after being forgiven for the crimes they were forced to commit?

Or are they going to remain fugitives who hide and attempt to live the rest of their lives hidden in some isolated forest?

Or are they going to face off against a particular enemy – say Sasuke or Konoha or any other village since Itachi is in the Bingo Book – and maybe one of them will die or both will die and, well, everybody else moves on?

See what I'm getting at?

I know that there may be thoughts of 'why should I think so hard about the end right now? I'll just go with the flow', but NO, finalizing or almost finalizing your ending is the most important part of writing a good story, because it gives you an idea on what should happen after what in your story – it's what I would like to call as scene building – and how those events affect the final ending of your story.

It can be a fanfic or an original story and you may have an awesome concept for it but make sure you know your story's ending before you begin working on it so you can build the scenes well!
