will woke up at 9:30 on the dot.  when we woke up mike wheeler was gone. will frowned and headed into the kitchen where nancy was standing with a cup of coffee.

"you okay kid?" she calls noticing wills worried expression

"yeah, just uh, do you know where mike is by any chance?"

"he's on a date with jane" nancy replies softly

"oh" will replied, his heart sinking.

he was so stupid to think he'd ever have a chance. so so stupid.

"sophie phoned" nancy said abruptly, obviously hoping to change the subject. "said she'll be over in 30 minutes to bring you on your dream date?"

"oh... right!" will said in a happier tone beginning to leave the room

"is she your girlfriend" nancy called after him

will froze, whatever he told her, she'd tell mike and in that moment he wanted nothing more than for mike to feel the jealousy he felt. so will turned around and replied, "yeah, yeah she is"

will quickly got ready and was in sophie's car at 10am on the dot.

"hey byers" she called unrolling her window and sticking her head out. "get in"

"coming" he said softly with a smile spreading across his face

once the two were seated on the car will started recounting the details of his past evening and this morning. when he got to the part where he told nancy that sophie was his girlfriend, sophie started laughing hysterically.

"byers, mike knows you're gay, how is this jealousy plan gonna work?"

will frowned, "i'll just say i'm bi"

sophie rolled her eyes, "okay kid, if you think this'll work, i'll go along with it but this means you're treating today"

"deal" will said punching her arm gently, "you're a good friend soph"

"you're pretty okay too byers"

will put his feet up on the dashboard and turned slightly towards sophie, "so, any girls catching your eye"

sophie paused and then answered quietly, "yeah... one"

will started bouncing in his seat, "oh my god who"

"pleaseeee" will begged putting on an overdramatic pouting face

"seriously" will shreiked causing sophie to swerve the car slightly

"jesus christ will you're gonna kill us"

"that's the plan" will giggled

"haha so funny. that would mean you'd never get to kiss the wheeler boy"

"i don't wanna kiss him" will said, his cheeks turning bright red

"and i'm straight" sophie stated rolling her eyes

"whatever" will said slouching in his seat, "it's not my fault he's so pretty and makes my heart beat 100 miles per hour"

soph grinned, "you're so in love with him"

sooner rather than later, the two pulled up in the diners parking lot and jumped out of the car

"sophie i swear if you order the most expensive stuff i'm gonna riot"

sophie grinned mischievously and grabbed wills hand, dragging him towards the diner.

the waitress smiled at them, "were almost full so you're gonna have to share a booth with two other people if that's okay?" she said looking happily at sophie and wills interlocked fingers.

will wondered how difference her response would be if will had shown up with mi-a boy.

" yeah that's okay," sophie said, answering for the both of them, due to the fact that will had been too caught up in this thoughts to reply.

the waitress led them over a booth in the corner of the diner where two other people were sitting.

the two glanced up as sophie and will approached

will felt his heart stop as he locked eyes with the boy.
