"byers wake up" mike said softly shaking the smaller boys shoulder. it was already 11am and they were going on a date today, mike couldn't wait any longer to talk to will about their plans for today.

"i'm up, im up." will mutters groggily rubbing the sleep away from his eyes. he smiles softly when his eyes meet mikes. "morning mikey".

"morning will" mike said with the most loving expression spread across his face, will had never even seen him look at el that way before. "you know what day it is today". mike asks with a grin.

"new years eve!" will says with a playful smile

"mmm yes but what else" mike asks poking wills arm

"our first date" will says standing up and kissing mike on the cheek.

"so what do you wanna do today?" mike asks following will into the bathroom where will was beginning to get ready.

"what do you think of going out for lunch, going skating then i can show you the arcade here?" will suggests softly.

"that sounds perfect" mike says kissing will on the forehead

"richies also throwing a new year's eve party tonight if you wanna go". will suggests his eyes not leaving mike's face as thought trying to read what he was thinking

"eddie, bev and everyone will be there. i want you to meet them" will added after mike hadn't said anything for too many seconds.

a harsh expression flashed across mike's face for a few seconds when will mentioned eddies name.

will tilted his head. was that jealousy he saw? eddie was richies. it had always been that way and always will be that way.

but the mention of meeting eddie seemed to have made mike's decision. "yeah of course i'll go bubba". mike said with a somewhat forced smile

"yay!" will said grinning. he pulled off his shirt and pants to pull on a pair of sweatpants and one of mike's oversized hoodies.

"you look cute will" mike said smiling, he loved seeing will wear his clothes

it made them feel official. like they are officially more than friends for once.

"you ready to go love?" mike asked

"yep!" will took mike's hand softly and walked down the stairs to the doorway

both boys tied up their winter boots and threw on their jackets before heading out the door

mike held the car door open for will as will climbed in. "well aren't you a gentleman" will said giggling

"hell yeah i am" mike said climbing in the drivers seat. "now where to byers"

"i'll show you the way" will said tucking his needs up to his chin. "i get to be DJ"

will turned on the stereo to play your song by elton john. mike smiled as he began to drive. snow was lightly falling on the car windows and the sun was shining. it felt like something out of a movie.

he glanced over to the smaller boy as he drove. will was smiling, looking out the window, singing along to the song.

and for the first time in years, mike felt that everything was as it should be
