It has been an hour since Mr Thomas asked myself and Mrs Jackie to step inside his office, and we have got nowhere. After calming down I was hesitant to tell my headteacher the truth about what happened, but I decided to just go for it seeing as I only have a few months left at this school and I wouldn't mind him finding out about his abusive son. The only thing is that he doesn't believe me, what a shocker.

"Meryn," Mr Thomas states bluntly, "I understand that you must be feeling traumatised with this so called flashback occurring, so your teachers and I have agreed that you can miss a few lessons if you need to calm down." He pauses and sighs, "But on the other hand, I do not appreciate you lying about my son bullying you."

I internally groan and hold myself back from leaving the room. Mr Thomas thinks that his son is an angel and would never believe the words coming from my mouth, I should have just stayed quiet about this whole situation and lied. However, my brain gets the best of me and keeps going.

"But sir can't you see these bruises forming?" I wonder while gesturing to my arms and swollen jaw.

He puts his head in his hands, it seems like he doesn't want to be dealing with this nonsense today, "If it makes you happy I will personally get the IT team to send me over any security footage." He sighs once more before sending me a smile, "But if what your saying is true then I will take care of it all."

A smile creeps up on my face, I shouldn't get my hopes up but when he said security footage I just couldn't help myself. Maybe this would be the time that Luke and his posse get what was coming for them.

"Anyway, you are welcome to stay in the library for a couple more hours if you'd like," He states, sorting out some papers on his desk.

"Could I possibly go home but collect some work from my class?" I ask, standing up with Mrs Jackie. I would rather not be the center of attention in all of my classes. I still cannot believe that I had one of those stupid flashbacks, in front of the entire student population!

"That seems reasonable, go ahead," He agrees.

Mrs Jackie shakes my headteachers hand and mutters a small thank you before I lead us both out of the office. We walk in silence, Mrs Jackie choosing not to bring up the elephant in the room just yet. She understands what I went through, she has seen me experience these flashbacks before when I was much younger, so I appreciate her being considerate about the situation. In a few minutes we reach my locker, and I am thankful to realise that it is now second period so there is nobody around. I grab my things out of my locker and then walk across the corridor to my art class with Mrs Jackie following behind.

The door opens not too long after knocking it and reveals Mrs Davis, my Art teacher.

"Oh hello Meryn. Your just a tad late," She smiles. She has always been my favourite teacher, always kind and friendly.

"Actually Mrs Davis I'm going home and I just came to see if there was any work for me to collect," I state while smiling back at her.

"Oh okay, well I hope that everything is alright Meryn. Just give me a second." I give her a nod before she turns around going back into the chatty classroom. She soon comes back with a plastic folder and some acrylic paints.

"Alright so in here are some drawings that I want you to draw in both biro and pencil, and then you have to paint a picture. It can be anything you want, but it needs to be in acrylic," She tells me, handing me the folder. Acrylic isn't a media I like using but this is all a part of the course, you've got to do everything.

"Okay no problem, I will see you tomorrow Mrs Davis," I shout over my shoulder as Mrs Jackie and I walk away. We walk back down the winding corridors and into the quiet car park. I hop into the passenger side of the car and Mrs Jackie gets into the drivers side. Once we hit the road, I break the silence. "What was I doing? You know, during my flashback."
