"That was awesome!" Chloe exclaims as I take a seat back at the bar.
Ten minutes ago I landed a punch to someones head, knocking them out cold. That was the last of my fights finished. The thing I hate most after a fight is being all sweaty, but the thing I love most is getting that cash reward. I definitely got way more than I anticipated, I bagged a whopping £740. All of that money is going to be put in my safe with my life savings.
"It was quite good. Especially when you knocked out the first guy with your kick," Justin agrees.
"Thanks, and thanks for the drink, but I think that I am going to be getting home now. I have some art work to do for tomorrow."
"Alright, we'll see you soon. Oh and we were told by Matt that we need to prepare for a future fight with another gang, whether or not Fred's awake. But I will text you about it later," He says. I nod and give them all a quick hug. I walk back to my motorcycle, straddle it and drive off, away from the fights which I call my home.
The only thing on my mind during my ride home is having to get involved with another gang without Fred by my side. Our gang is known as the Pythons and it is my family. It consists of myself, Justin, Fred, Sam, Chloe and Matt.
Justin and I are seen as the bosses of the group. I have no idea why, but everyone just looks up to us for some reason. Because we are the 'bosses' we take charge and do what is best for our group as a whole. I met Justin almost four years ago at the very same bar I was just at, I beat him in a fight and we kind of just became friends. I know, that sounds very contradicting. Becoming best friends with someone you met at a fighting bar. But I couldn't have asked for more, I love him like a brother.
Next is Sam and Chloe. They came into our lives at the same time, they were both friends for about a year before they met us. Sam was in a very dark place after running away from her abusive foster family and she met Chloe somewhere on her journey. Fred stumbled across them when he was out one day and offered to help them out. They had nothing, they were homeless. Fred has always been like that, he has always taken care of people.
Fred is an amazing person and we all love him to pieces. He is the heart of our family, he is the glue that keeps us together. I met Fred when him and his mum came to the orphanage one day, shortly after I arrived there. I was eight years old at the time, and Fred was ten. His mum and Mrs Jackie are close friends, so she visited quite a lot. This meant that I had Fred as a friend to play with. I think his mum and Mrs Jackie allowed him to stay for hours on end because he got me to open up. After the accident I wasn't in a good place, but Fred helped me lighten up my life.
Lastly, there is Matt. He is like the father figure of us all. He is the oldest at twenty five years old and he has the most experience in what we do. I don't think that he intended to come into our lives, but three years later and he is hooked. At the time he already had a group of friends, and I think he found it amusing that we were starting up our own. From what I remember he did tease us a lot but he got stuck with us. He just loves us too much.
My thoughts get cut off when I notice that one of the main roads I travel along has been closed due to emergency road works. For gods sake. I quickly do a u-turn and go down an alleyway rather than back down the main road. In less than five minutes I arrive back at the orphanage.
"I'm back Mrs Jackie!" I shout through the big building.
I walk up the stairs and into my room, making sure that I shut my door behind me. Most people here have roommates, but because I'm the eldest I get my own. I guess it's a bonus because I also get my own bathroom, but it isn't an en suite unfortunately. I really do love my room, not just because of the bathroom, but because of the view. My bedroom is the attic but it's been fitted into a bedroom and it overlooks the city.
