Chapter Thirteen ~ Mered

Merryn's POV

It's been three hours since I had arrived at the hospital and an hour and a half since I got a call from Sam telling me that there's traffic. So now all Fred and I are doing is playing Monopoly while we wait for them. We got the game from the children's part of the hospital.

"Yes then! Mayfair is finally mine!" Fred exclaims, thrusting his arms in the air, making me laugh.

It's funny because I thought that he would be really fragile when he woke up, but obviously not. He's still his lively, loud self. I honestly don't think anyone could change his personality in any situation.

"Fair enough," I chuckle, taking out the card Mayfair and taking his money.

I'm a boss at being the banker.

He takes the card from my hand and puts it down neatly with all his other cards, making sure they're all in order by price.

"Right then," He mutters, "Just Park Lane and then I'll be fine."

"Well let's see about that," I reply, sending him a cheeky smirk.

"Oh will we now?" He questions with a playful tone.

I laugh and nod my head, picking up the two dice and rolling them onto the board. The cubed items stop and the numbers four and six show up.

Not bad Merryn, not bad.

Just as I was about to move my counter of a horse and it's rider, the door to the room slams open and both Fred and I turn to look at whoever it is.

"Fredrick!" Justin exclaims with wide eyes. Fred and Justin are cousins although you could consider that they're brothers. They're so damn close.

"Hey there Justin," Fred replies, trying not to laugh.

"Merryn said you woke up but we didn't believe her. But- you're awake!" He rants.

"Wow, feeling the love here," I mutter.

"Does your mom know you're awake?" He wonders, taking the seat opposite me.

Where's everyone else? I thought they would have came with Justin.

"Yeah, she does. You just missed her," Fred explains, "She should be back soon though, she went to pick up Liam."

"Oh, fair enough."

I look at the two teenagers and decide that I should get out of here. They need their family time together, and they'll really need it when Liam and Hanna arrive. Digging my hands into my pockets I hunt for my phone, taking it out and only then noticing the time.

Shit.

"Um, guys? I need to leave," I state, standing up, "Like right now."

"Oh, okay. Will you visit again?" Fred wonders.

"Obviously!" I laugh, "Can you tell the others that I'm sorry I couldn't be here when they arrive?"

"Sure," Fred smile.

I thank them and then kiss them both on the cheek, a little thing we all do, and walk out of the room after saying goodbye. I completely forgot that Ms Jackie wanted me home for 7pm and it's just gone 8pm now. She's going to kill me.

Literally.

Rushing my way through the halls full of doctors and nurses, I find myself in the main lobby of the hospital. I look around and notice the café I got mine and Fred's food from. Smiling to myself I speed walk over to it and pick up a Chicken Mayo Baguette once I reach the sandwiches. I'll need the energy for the walk home.

I quickly pay for the food and walk out of the café, already munching on it. Well time for a long walk home.

Fred's POV

Breathe Fredrick, breathe. Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale.

Sighing, I look over at Justin.

"Merryn again?" He questions, looking at me with that I-told-you-so look on his face.

"Yes, it is. And don't give me that look," I reply.

"Oh come on Fred, you know I'm right. I'm always right!" He laughs at himself, "You need to tell her that you still have feelings for her or else you'll most likely get hurt."

"But if I do then she'll probably hate me. She was the one who broke it up between us and she thinks I don't have feelings for her anymore," I explain, sitting back in the uncomfortable hospital bed, "I don't think I can take another rejection."

"I know where you're coming from but if you don't tell her then you'll never find out if she still likes you."

"Likes me?!" I laugh sarcastically, "Man she doesn't like me. Why would she break it off if she did?"

"True... But what if she does like you and you never man up and grow a pair to state your feelings? You'll never find out. If you don't ask."

He has a point.

"But-" He cuts me off, "No buts Fred! You're going to tell her how you feel or I'll have to do it myself!"

"Okay! Okay! Fine. I will," I submit. The last thing I want to happen is Justin telling Merryn that I'm crushing on her.

Thank God he wasn't here when I woke up.

Merryn's just different, you know? She isn't like any other girl. Maybe Sam and Chloe, yes, but I see Merryn differently. She looks all tough and fearless, and she has built walls inside her to stop her emotions getting out, but I know she won't be able to keep them up for long. Nobody can. They'll say they will but in the end someone breaks them. And I'd like to break hers.

I've broken half already, and so has Justin, but I want to know her more and more, as well as all the feelings inside her.

I can't get enough of her. She's perfect and in every single way.

"You'd suit Merryn, you know?" Justin states, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"What do you mean?"

"Well when you two were going out, the others and I made you a ship name for starters," He explains.

"Wait? You gave us a ship name?" I repeat, sitting forward, "What was it?"

"Mered," He chuckles, "I know, it sounds stupid but it was hard to choose!"

I laugh at his childness as well as the others. Ship names? Really? Oh well, I can't go against it to be quite honest as I am childish at times.

"Dude you're crazy," I say chuckling, leaning back.

"I know I know, what can I say?"
