It had been two days since she'd gone to see the guy who'd attacked her and then she had her first exam. At one point she was excited about it, it was one step closer to graduation, but she hadn't had much time to study and though her teacher helped her out here and there because it was an oral exam, she knew it wouldn't be the best exam she ever did.
Sure, before she would never have doubted her ability to have a good exam, but too little time and very little concentration had led to her not really being able to focus when she had to and she couldn't help but doubt her results before she even had them, even when her teacher tried to reassure her that she'd done pretty alright. At least she hadn't failed and that was a win in her book at the moment.
Alex had returned to London the day before; he had his first day of engagements today and she'd sent him off towards London. She'd been grateful to have had him there when she needed him the most right after the attack. He'd spend ten days at her side, and she'd enjoyed it a lot, the only good thing to come out of the entire thing.
She and Alex had been able to spend some more time together without being bothered or needed to be separated because one of them needed to return home.
Her sprains and broken bones were healing so she truly was on the right track. All that she needed to do right now was finish her second exam and that was it which was the day after tomorrow and she had till then to study for it.
When that one was finished, she'd head for London, for the week at least. She couldn't fly yet, the doctor wanting to let her ribs rest a bit longer, not that she understood the connection between broken ribs and flying but the doctor probably had his reasons for it, so she'd take the Eurostar to London.
When she finally got to London a couple of days later, Blake was there waiting at the train station to drive her back towards Kensington Palace. All of them were relieved to see Amelia healing and on the road to recovery. The news had hit them hard, all of them, the entire household had been shocked when they heard of the news that Amelia had been attacked by one of her patients. For Amelia it wasn't uncommon to get bored and wander off, it was how the household knew her. She'd wandered into the staff quarters where they all ate during lunch when Alex had been at work. She'd apologised for wandering into their space, just when a cleaning woman had injured herself, which she'd taken care off, from that moment on she'd been welcome in their space by most of the people there, she was always kind and always there to help anyone out even if it was the household staff.
Some would complain that it was their only space where they could complain about the people they worked for. That it was the only room they had for them and where the royals could come, but just wouldn't come and that Amelia had no place there, but by most of the people she was welcome there and even those who didn't want her there had been worried when they heard of the news of her attack.
There wasn't one person on staff at Kensington Palace that didn't already like her. Sure there would always be those who weren't a fan of her, thought her to be beneath their future king and such. Or to high and mighty for a commoner as some would put it, but all in all she was liked by most of the staff.
Her natural charming ability had probably something to do with it as well, the ability she had to make you like her or see things her way. And even those that didn't fully like her, still respected her.
"How are you feeling Amelia?" Blake asked her after he'd put her luggage in the trunk and helped her inside of the car. Amelia had already established that she didn't want the entire formal greetings and mannerism. She was Amelia, not Miss, or Ma'am or anything else they normally called the royals, or their partners married or not.
