"Y-you must be wrong" Jackson said with desperation in his voice
"I'm perfectly fine! Y-you have to check me again, you're making a mistake" tears rolled down his cheeks onto his robe, seeing him like this was so damn painful.

"Mr. Wang, we're very sorry.. we're not making mistakes either. You have to take a year long break, or you'll never be able to perform again" the doctor said with a straight face
"I would say, you shouldn't get up from bed in at least 3 months, since your back also got seriously damaged" he added while scanning his pad

Silence

Everything was silence.

Silent tears kept rolling down his face, but he said nothing; he didn't even make a noise, he was deadly quiet.

"Make sure he drinks this pills, and starts receiving home therapy in a month from now, okay?" The doctor told me
"We know it must be hard news to take in, but I hope you can do this for your future, Mr. Wang" he spoke with a barely noticeable spark of empathy, he was indeed a cold person.

"Ms. Sunhi, go to the main desk so he can be discharged, I'll be leaving now"
"Thanks" I said, wiping a single tear that had managed to escape my eyes
"I'll be back, alright?" I said, but got nothing back in response, Jackson was still silent, his face damp with tears

I sighed softly, making my way out of the room to the main desk

"Jackson! How are you, baby? Everything's alright?" His mom said as soon as she heard us walk through the front door

I was quick to give her a warning look, signaling he wasn't doing as fine

"I'm good, mom. You and dad don't have to worry at all" he spoke softly for the first time since he was given the news
"You sure? You seem.. down?" Her eyes went from Jackson's to my own, but I avoided eye as much as I could

"No, I'm just.. tired I guess, can you take me to my room, please?" He said in a gentle tone, I guess he didn't want his mom to worry all that much

Ma didn't even hesitate as she grabbed the wheel chair from me, doing as he wished. I sighed and sat on the couch, next to Mr. Wang

"He isn't alright, is he?" I sighed and nodded, biting down on my lip trying to ignore the knot that was forming on my throat

"The doctor said he needs a year long break if he wants to recover" I replied looking down at a ring he gave me the last time I went to China. It was a promise ring, since we both knew our marriage wasn't to be any time soon, he still wanted to make me feel special, so he gave me a cute silver ring with a pinkish and small diamond; it was simple, yet breathtaking, I loved it.

"Don't worry, Sunhi.. I know he'll get up from that bed. He once got a pretty bad injury on his ankle while being a fencer.. it was very hard for him, but he recovered from it and look at him now.. he'll be alright, okay? He's a strong guy" Pa grabbed my hand and squeezed it tightly and reassuringly

I smiled at him softly and nodded "you're right,  you raised a strong willed man after all, pa" I said with a soft chuckle, making him laugh softly as well

"Anyways, have you eaten anything yet?" I asked, getting up to cook them some dinner

"Are you sure Sunhi? I could stay a few more days if you need, I know you're a busy woman" ma said. I was dropping them at the airport since they had to return to Beijing as soon as possible
"Don't worry ma, I'll fort everything out.. Jackson will be alright too" I said, hugging her tightly
"If any of you needs anything, call me and I'll be right here, okay?"
"Sure ma, Love you.. have a safe trip"
"Love you too, darling"

I hugged Mr. Wang afterwards, him giving me a little encouraging speech and then a last warm hug. They were truly amazing, loving and caring parents, I was more than happy to be considered me part of their family.

As I got back from the airport, I went directly to Jackson's room, checking if he was alright, if he had eaten what ma had cooked for him. But he was asleep, or so he was making me believe.

I sat on a spot of the bed, close to him, and traced his soft features
"Jackson, wake up.. you have to eat something" I said softly

He blinked a few times, adjusting his view, then he closed his eyes back again

"Why are you here? You should be back in Japan.. I'm fine on my own" he said coldly

I knew he was going through tough stuff, but his harsh words were like a ton of bricks being thrown on my head

"I'm not leaving any time soon, though.. you'll have to get used to seeing me around" I said in hopes of lighting up his mood a little, completely ignoring the fact that he had hurt my feelings a little

"I don't need you here, okay? I told this to ma, I'm fine on my own.." he repeated, making my breath hitch

"Make sure to call me when you need feel hungry, okay? I'll do some cleaning around the house" I said, yet again ignoring his words, and before he could say anything else, I walked out of the room, closing the door behind me.

He was just angry, he needed some rest, that's all..
