Jaycee was standing at her locker it was the 2nd month of the 6th grade. She pushed up her glasses and smiled when she seen her boyfriend coming down the hall. Bucky has on his football jersey since their school had a game that night.
He walked over to her and kissed her forehead. "Hey..um we need to talk.." he said
"About what?" She said as he opened his locker.
"Jaycee I um Im a football player now and its middle school. And um well I cant be your boyfriend anymore Im sorry." He said
A tear rolled down her cheek. "But I ..what does you being a football player have to do with you being my boyfriend?" She said as she wiped it away.
"Well um ..Im suppose to date cheerleaders Jaycee not you." He said
She broke into tears. "So you are saying that Im not pretty enough for you.."
"Jaycee Im sorry..I.." he said
She slammed her locker and ran down the hall. She hid in the library the rest of the day. After school she was at her locker when she opened her locker she threw away her pictures. She seen Bucky come down the hall with Makayla Brown a blonde cheerleader and he kissed her.
Jaycee heard Deacon Daniels say "Now you are one of us. Its about time you got rid of the nerd."
She looked down. She wiped tears as she walked by them. She found her dad's car "Baby what happened?" Ben said
She proceeded to tell her dad what happened with Bucky over ice cream at Orange Leaf. He sighed and shook his head. They picked up her sister Jaylen from cheer practice.
The next morning Ben and Bucky's dad James were discussing a used car that had been brought to Ben's dealership. Once that was done James could tell that there was something else on Ben's mind.
Ben reluctantly informed James what had happened between their two youngest ones. James shook his head and said "Ben I am so sorry. I don't know what has happened. He has been different since middle school started. I never thought he would be this person though. I raised him better than this."
"I know..but she did say that she over heard one of the boys tell him that it was about time he got rid of the nerd. And he has already found himself a cheerleader." Ben said
James just shook his head. That night as dinner was finishing up James said "Buchanan I want you to stay seated I want to talk to you." James said
"Yes sir." He said as he sat back down.
Winnie ushered out the older kids then took a seat at the table. Bucky looked between the two of them.
"What is this that I hear..that you let some boy convince you to break up with Jaycee?" James said
"Dad..Im a football player now Im suppose to date cheerleaders. Thats what the guys told me." He said
"Then you should of told them that you weren't like that James. You hurt Jaycee's feelings son. How could you do that? You use to stand up to bullies now you let a bully tell you who you are suppose to date." Winnie said
Bucky rolled his eyes. "I like Makayla she is fun. Jaycee will be fine." He said and he left the kitchen.
