When Jaycee was 28 weeks along she failed her one hour sugar test. She was told she had to come back in for the 3 hour sugar test. She let out a sigh then Dr Taylor looked over chart.
"Jaycee I know being a expecting teen mother isn't easy. But these blood pressure numbers aren't the best. You need to de stress your life." Dr Taylor said
"Yeah.." she said
"You need to bring someone with you for the 3 hour sugar test." Dr Taylor said
"Yeah okay.." she said
She left her doctor's appointment she had the night off. She drove over to the Barnes household. Bucky was in the kitchen doing his homework while his mom cooked dinner.
"Baby go see who is outside. I heard a car door." Winnie said
Bucky opened the door when she knocked. "What the hell are you doing at my house?" He said
"Um I came to talk to your mother since mine is dead or did you forget that too." She said as she walked past him.
Winnie came out "Jaycee honey.." she said
"Hey can I talk to you?" Jaycee said
"Yeah sure. She followed Winnie into the dining room. Winnie closed the doors behind her. Bucky put his ear against the door.
"Um I um I failed my sugar test last week. And so I have to take the three hour one next week. They told me that I need someone to come with me. I don't have anyone else my dad threatened Jaylen's college tuition if she continued to help. So now he has cut off my whole family from me including moms. So I um I was wondering if you could come with me?" Jaycee said
Winnie hugged her. "Of course baby..shh dont worry about it. I will come get you that morning okay?" As as tears rolled down her cheeks.
Jaycee hugged her as she broke into tears. "You can stay for dinner if you want.." Winnie said
"No thats okay..I um I have to go pick up my check from the bookstore and see what little groceries I can get tonight. But thank you for the invite." She said as she let go.
They walked out she got to her car when Bucky came out. "You still havent told him". He said
"For the last fucking time James no. I dont even know his name and Im very sure he wouldnt like to know that the fun flirty big boob girl he met in Florida is nothing more than a nerd. He had this whole jock vibe about him like you do. So please stop asking." She said
"Well maybe scour through social media..Im sure once he gets to know.." he started to say but she cut him off.
"Don't say it..he was just like every other guy he was shallow as fuck. Im sure if he seen me right now he would run. Just like you did 5 years ago..I wasnt pretty enough for you even at 12 years old.." she said
"Jaycee.." he said
"But Im going to raise my son by myself. And Im going to teach him to not judge a book by its cover. There is more to a girl than her good looks and big boobs. Cause I wont let him grow up to be a shallow prick like you or his dad..or any other guy for that matter. So just leave me the fuck alone.." she said as she wiped tears and got in her car.
Bucky slammed the front door and gathered up his homework. ""James.." Winnie said
"All Im trying to do..is to make her see she needs to let the guy know. He could help her financially. But all I ever get is this bitch side of Jaycee that I have never seen before with her." He said as he slammed the door to the basement.
The following Thursday Winnie pulled up at Jaycee's apartment. She let her in Winnie saw that she had barely any groceries and only furniture in her bedroom.
Jaycee said "okay Im ready."
Winnie and her got in Winnie's car. They went to the lab where they took Jaycee's blood then gave her the glucose drink. Jaycee felt sick the whole time. They drew her blood at the end of hour that by the time the test was done.
She had bruises where they had drew her blood. They let her get some lunch while they sent her blood work results to Dr Taylor's office. The nurse called to let her know to come in for the results.
Winnie went back with her. Dr Taylor said "Okay..blood work came back. You dont have gestational diabetes. It must of been something you ate that morning."
"Good.." Jaycee said
"So we will see you in two weeks..and remember to keep your blood pressure down.." Dr Taylor said
"Yeah.." she said
Winnie took her back home then headed to see James at the shop. He looked up at her "Hey how did it go?"
"Good..she is in the clear she doesnt have gestational diabetes. But oh my god my poor baby girl..that apartment James..she needs help.." she said as she sat down.
"How bad is it?" He said as Bucky listened through the door.
"She barely has any groceries..her trash can was full of taco bell and diner food. She doesnt have any furniture except in the bedroom. Even then it was just a mattress on the floor her tv on her dresser and thats it James.." Winnie said
James shook his head. "Fucking Ben..how could he do this to own his daughter. Jaylen told me that when he found out he smacked Jaycee across the face." He said
Bucky's mouth fell open when he heard his dad say that. Bucky went back downstairs cause a car came in.
"Im scared for her James..she has no support and thats what scares me the most. She has already tried to take her life once. She could try again and we wouldnt even know..." Winnie said as she got up to leave.
James kissed her. "I know..see you at home darlin."
"Love you." She said
"Love you too darlin.." James said as he went back to his part order form.
