Chapter Eight(8):

(Scarlet picks up her phone to call Jane)
"How is Uncle Chris???"Jane asks.
   "He is fine from what I saw,how is my godson???"
   "He is ok,why does your voice sound so dull???,are you okay?"
   "Am fine am just a little stressed recently, it's nothing"
   "Have you heard from Carl?"

(Scarlet could feel her 💓 heart race again)
     "No,he came to see Uncle Chris too but I don't know if he is back or not"
   "Didn't he go because of you,you were supposed to come back together right?"
    "When is the baby shower???"
   "Stop trying to avoid my question,did you guys have a fight???".
  "You won't understand Jane forget it"
   "Then make me understand,or don't tell me the venom of love has started to have effect on you guys"
     "You know, it's so not fun talking to you,I will end the call now"
    "What's with....(Scarlet ends the call before Jane could finish).

   "Can I come in???"
Scarlet heard a musculine voice say as she gently lifts her head to see Daniel.
   "No you can't come in"She snapped.
"I miss you so much Scarlet,can you let me explain.
   "You and I Know I don't need your explanations but if you insist,10 minutes".
   "Thanks". Daniel says as he took Scarlet to the top of the building,it was such a nice view looking at the cars,the buildings was really nice from up here.
    "Eight minutes remaining,you had better start talking"
     "I will go straight to the point,I was just flirting with you at the beginning trying to win your heart to there will be greater opportunities for a promotion,but the truth is that I was caught in my own game,I couldn't stop myself from falling in love with you this was not part of the plan,I know you don't believe me". He says as he gently went on his knee and brought out a little box from his pocket and in it was a ring.
     "Will you marry me???,be beside me till the end of time???
     "Your 10minutes is up"Scarlet says and turned to leave but he was still on his knee and this made Scarlet feel bad inside,what am I doing?she asked herself, it was her dream to get married,and this was a great chance to fulfill that dream and this will also help her put a stop to whatever feelings she had towards Carl and retain their friendship, suddenly she turns on her heel and went back to Daniel.
    "Yes I will,I am ready to be your life partner".She says as Daniel got up to give her a big hug.
   "What about Hannah,your girlfriend". Scarlet asked.
    "I broke up with her Scarlet,you are the only one I want".
   "I thought I had lost you forever,but am glad we are back together".
  "We should start planning for the wedding already,I want to  marry you as soon as people"
   "Me too"she replied with a horrible Smile.
   "Why do I feel you are not happy about our reconciliation?"
   "Am very happy,I am just surprised, things happened so quickly". She wasn't sure if she was making the right choice anymore.

When Scarlet got home it was already 7:05,She had to see Carl and put an end to the awkwardness between them,but she didn't know how to approach him or talk to him,.... suddenly her phone rings,it was Carl.           "such a perfect timing,I was about to call you"Scarlet says hastily.
   "Oh really,I should have waited a little longer".That wasn't what he wanted to say.
  Hearing his voice made Scarlet realize how bad she wanted to throw her arms around him and feel his warmth,She snaps out of her daydream.
    "We have to talk Carl, old place by 8:00"she said bluntly.
   "Ok I will be there"he says as Scarlet ends the call.

Carl got to the restaurant and waits for Scarlet,soon enough she arrived.
"Sorry,I was stuck in traffic". Scarlet says sitting herself across Carl,this seems to be way difficult than how she imagined it to be.
"I apologise for what happened that night,am sorry".He forced himself to say.
  "It was a mistake on my part,the alchohol got the best of us,we should forget about that now,I am so happy that we have cleared the doubts and all".
  "If you are happy then I am too"Carl chuckles.
   "Yeah I know,I have  good news to share".
    "Good news???,what could it be?"Carl asks curiously.
   "Ta da !!!!...."Scarlet says showing him her ring.
    "What's that???"Carl asks praying hard it wasn't what he thinks it is.
     "Am getting Married Carl,am so excited". Scarlet wasn't sure she was happy though.
   Carl was Completely speechless,
he felt a bulge in his throat and a line of bitterness whip him hard,tears couldn't wait to roll down his cheeks.
     "Are you crying???"Scarlet asks.
    "They are tears of Joy Scarlet, Congratulations,am happy so happy,Is Daniel the groom???"
    She nodded.
   "Okay,I have something to attend to,I have to leave now"he says walking out on her,that was what it seems like.
  
Scarlet let's out a long suffering sigh,she felt horrible, but why was she doing this,she realized she didn't have an answer to that.She remembered she had to see Jane today but damn she forgot,she will just see her tomorrow she was already exhausted.

         (The Next Day)
"My godson is looking good today, what's the secret???".(Suddenly the baby starts crying,Jane carries the baby from her,and patted on his back).
"Does he hate me so much,why does he cry Everytime I carry him?"
  "It's not that he hates you,he is crying because he is hungry"Jane explains.
"Then why is he hungry Everytime I carry him??"
" I can't tell,you should ask the baby"Jane says.
"Daniel proposed to me Jane". Scarlet says showing Jane her ring.
"Scarlet???why did you accept his proposal?,what's wrong with you???"
"What do you mean what's wrong with me?, didn't you want me to get married???"
"Not to Daniel, common Scarlet, don't do this to yourself"
"What do you mean by that Jane???,I am happy with this"
"It's your life Scarlet,but am your friend, don't do this,what about Carl???".
"If all this is about Carl then don't worry, in fact he knows am getting married to Daniel,I told him today and he even shared tears of Joy"
"Scarlet???,with the way you talk am pretty sure those were not tears of Joy"
"Well I can't do anything about that"
"What are you scared of Scarlet?,why do you hold yourself back?"
  "Daniel won't hurt me,I don't want anything to happen to the friendship I share with Carl...."
"You are just confused about this Scarlet,just take the time to think, don't be in a rush to make decisions"
"I am leaving with Daniel tomorrow,he wants us to get married in his home town,you are specially invited"
"I don't attend such weddings,when you are back in your senses then please give me a call,but for now my baby needs me"Jane says.
