It's never confirmed how long Sec had been alive before AvA IV, he/she could have been around for a year for all we know.
Say he/she has been alive for at least month or so in AvA IV. He/she could have been watching the others for awhile.
He/she could have been fanboying/fangirling over (stick) for awhile, and finally got to meet him/her, become friend, and possibly more
