She only picked the call, though he couldn't see her,he was sure she'd be blushing by now. After two minutes of silence,it dawned to him that he didn't say his salam.
"Assalamualaikum, am sorry,I know. You don't have to lecture me,again" he sighed.
"Waalaikumussalam" she simply replied.
"How are you coping?"he asked referring to her job,as he closed his MacBook Pro.
"We thank God,besides I love my job. Well half of it" she mumbled the last part, but he was still able to hear her.
"Don't worry,it will soon be over.I hope your not stressing yourself?"he worriedly asked.
She simply smiled although he couldn't see her, she was a only able to blush not a word came out from her mouth.
"Silent are we? I'll make sure I sweep you off your feet without you knowing" he said with a smirk.
They talked for almost an hour, well he did the talking she only chuckles or replies with a "Yes" she's such a shy person!.
"Look,I got to go, duty calls, bye!"and without waiting for a reply, she hung up with a smile plastered on her face.
He was only able to smile considering the fact he knows how shy she could be,though he knew she needed time before she is able to accept him,he always try to show her he would be there for her at any given opportunity he gets.
It has been three months already, and after his first conversation with Huda, there relationship has, well let's just say on a scale of one to ten,it's a six. She made it clear to him that she is not ready to be committed into a relationship and also the fact that she and his wife know each other, but still they are off to a good start. She brings joy to him,his mother and everybody who knows him could testify to that.
A smile involuntarily made an appearance on his face. He diverted his attention back on his work where he was suppose to go through a document.
Meanwhile back at home,Sophie was in her room taking a selfie after live-streaming her makeup tutorial, yes, she is a makeup artist,or rather fashion ambassadors as she likes to call it. Even before she got married,Sophie has been in the makeup business, but after she got pregnant, things changed and now she is back in business! After wiping the makeup with the wipes, she used her avocado cleanser to cleanse away the mixture of chemicals which was applied to her face. Just then,Huda worked in to the room as she was trembling with fear.
"What's the matter!"she snapped at her, with her gaze focused on the mirror.
"You have a guest,Ma"she informed as she quickly walked out with a sigh of relief. This woman surely scars her to death!.
It took her almost have an hour before she graced the visitor with her presence. With the sight of the person, her mouth dropped to the ground, but her expression was later on masked with excitement.
"Amina!" She squealed as she hugged the daylights out of the person.
"Su Sophie manya!"The Amina lady exclaimed.
"I haven't seen you like since our graduation"Sophie was able to say as they both settled down on the three seater.
"Yeah, that's because I traveled to Malaysia for my masters,it wasn't long I came back"Amina replied.
Well,Amina was a course mate and also a friend of Sophie. Back in school,Amina was bad news, but let's hope she has changed for the better.
"I heard you got married and you also have a child"Amina said as she took a sip out of her drink.
"Yeah,Huda?" She immediately replied knowing how her boss hated repeating herself. She came back with a seven month Maya whom was held firmly with her arm.
"Masha Allah! She is so cute. Hand her to me" Amina ordered in which she obliged. As soon as she couldn't recognize the person, the poor girl started wailing.
For the past seven months of her life, the girl was only accustomed to either her father or Huda considering the fact that she literally takes care of her. And despite the fact that Sophie was her mother, they don't share that sort of bond like that of a mother and her child, poor child!
Huda was quick to retrieve her as she left the duo to pacify the wailing child.
"Buglee-buglee-boo!"she made funny a silly face as the girl started laughing with joy.
It was quarter to seven when Imam had gotten back from work, and boy was he hectic! He waited for over two minutes before the door was opened.
"Sannu da dawowa" she meekly said with her gaze on the floor as little Maya tried to wiggle out of her hold to her father's which she succeeded in doing. Imam looked at his daughter with joy and pride as he walked away with her leaving the maid standing absentmindedly.
She simply locked the door and walked back to her duty station which was the kitchen to dish out dinner.
On the other hand,he walked in to his room to be met with his wife applying black scrub on her face.A smile appeared on his face as she noticed him through the mirror.
"Welcome" She said with no hint of courtesy whatsoever.
"Miss world,so should I say Mrs" he spoke without acknowledging her greeting as he dropped Maya on the bed.
"Teasing are we?" She replied with a smirk.
Silence prevailed as he walked to the bathroom, while she continued her daily dose of beauty treatment. After she was done, she adjusted her rope and proceeded to carry Maya. The poor girl started crying her little soul out,Sophie was wondering the reason behind her sudden action.
"Who's mommy's little angel?"she made a funny face as the girl only increased her wailing with full force, just on cue Imam came out.
"What's wrong" he asked a confused Sophie.
"I don't know,I just wanted to carry her and then she started crying"Sophie spoke with a worried reaction. So she does care? Silly question!
As soon as Imam got a hold of her,it was like a switch was turned off. And that was when realization dawned on him which made him burst into laughter.
