Chapter 9

Back in her room, (F/N) found a long (F/C) gown. She pulled it on and wrapped a cloak around her shoulders. Without a second thought, she grabbed her flute and headed outside. The (S/C) princess took a walk outside of the castle enjoying the night sky and sea air. She went to the brick gate that looked over the ocean. (F/N) pulled out her flute to begin playing the intoxicating melody that the boy who saved her sung two days ago. (F/N) sighed heavily.

Why did love have to be so complicated. She couldn't shake the feeling that she was meant to be with the boy who saved her. The ocean whispered rhythmically. "(F/N)," a voice said behind her. (F/N) turned and saw Seijuro, her councilor and friend. "If I may say, far better than any dream boy is one of flesh and blood, one warm and caring." Seijuro gestured up to Haru's window. "And right before your eyes." He added. (F/N) looked up and smiled. Haru was combing his hair with a fork, a dreamy look on his face.

(F/N) wasn't sure she would ever understand Haru completely, but Seijuro was right. He was right in front of her and even though she had only known him for a couple of days, she knew he could love her. She looked back at her flute. I choose Haruka, she thought. She used her strength to throw the flute into the ocean. It landed with a splash beyond the rocks. With her mind made up, (F/N) glanced back to Haru's window. She wondered how he felt about an evening stroll on the beach. She wanted to kiss him. She walked towards the window. I'm going to kiss him. I'm going to make him my king, she thought.

A sound from the beach stopped her. It was a voice, a man's voice. She had heard it before. She rushed back to the balcony and leaned over the edge. A boy was walking along the water's edge, the wind making his cloak flow behind him. (F/N) squinted. Through the fog, she couldn't see him clearly, but the voice sounded so much like. . . She leaned further over the balcony. Something began to glow around his neck. Could this be the boy that saved her life?

"CONGRATULATIONS!!" Rei shrilled as he flew in through Haru's opened balcony window. Brook woke up with a start, but was perky unlike the groggy Haru. Haru let out a yawn as he stretched his arms out, and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. "What are you talking about?" Brook asked curiously. Rei looked at him like he grew a second head. "Didn't you hear? Princess (F/N) is getting married today! Congratulations, Kid, I knew you had in you!" Rei cried while shaking Haru's hand. Haru was confused.

Princess (F/N) getting married? To who. . . Wait married? That means. . . TODAY IS MY WEDDING DAY! Haru thought excitedly as he scrambled out of bed and ran towards the mirror to fix up his hair. Once he was satisfied, he picked up Brook and gave him a very grateful kiss. He bolted out of his room, down the hallway, and ran down the staircase to see (F/N) all dressed up with a boy Haru had never seen before hanging off her arm talking to Seijuro, Wilhelmina, Gou, and Momo. "Well, I guess you were right, Princess (F/N), your mystery boy really does exist." Seijuro said shocked.

"So, what's your name?" Wilhelmina asked the boy. The boy had small turquoise eyes, short dark brown hair, and had tan skin that brought out his hair and eyes handsomely. He wore a suit entirely of black except for his cloak which had a turquoise underside that made his golden shell necklace stick out. "Sousuke." He answered almost caustically. I can tell already that I don't like him. Wilhelmina thought as she shot a wary glance to Gou, Momo, and Seijuro who were obviously thinking the same thing.

"We wish to be married as soon as possible, so I trust you all have arranged everything?" (F/N) said unemotionally. That worried her advisors. They had never seen her like this; was this even (F/N)? "Well, of course everything is ready, but do you want this?" Gou asked (F/N). OF COURSE NOT!! WHY THE HECK WOULD I WANT TO MARRY HIM!? Okay, so I did before, but that was before I met Haruka!! Come on, lips move the way I want you to! SAY NO!!! (F/N)'s inner self screamed in her head, but to no avail. The spell over her was too strong for her to break. "Of course I do." WHAT THE BLOODY HECK AM I SAYING?!!

"Oh yes," Seijuro said, his smile fading. "Of course, (F/N), but. . . Uh. . . These things take time you know. . ." (F/N)'s dazed eyes sharpened. "This afternoon, Seijuro," (F/N) said. "The wedding ship departs at sunset." He stared in shock and bewilderment. "Oh," Seijuro started. "Oh, very well, as you wish." Seijuro gave (F/N) a puzzled look and spun around, leaving (F/N) alone with the enchanter. He let out a quiet chuckle stroking his necklace fondly. It began to glow softly.

It was almost sundown and Haru had spent his whole day moping. He watched somberly from the docks as Princess (F/N)'s guests, advisors, maid, caretaker, her future husband, (Y/D/N), and Princess (F/N) sail away on the boat she was to be married on. Haru sat with his knees to his chin and his arms tucked under his legs with hot tears rolling down his cheeks with a broken heart. Brook stroked him with his claw in an attempt to soothe him, but even he was feeling very un-youthful. He was so sure (F/N) had fallen for Haru, but alas, she is marrying someone else. Nagisa and Rin surfaced near the dock where Haru and Brook were moping.

"So. . . What's the progress." Rin asked, but from the looks on their faces, he could tell that it did not work out. "She's getting married." Brook answered. Rin looked at him then to Haru. She's getting married? But Haru is right here. As if reading his mind, Brook continued. "She's marrying some boy named Sousuke." Rin gasped in horror. "So. . . In other words, it is over." Rin replied sadly. Everyone let a out a sad sigh. Meanwhile, Rei was flying towards the ship, still thinking that it was Haru's wedding he was heading to. He found an open window on the ship where someone was singing. It sounded like Haru! The seagull flew near the window to get a better look and saw Sousuke singing to himself in front of the mirror on his vanity.

Sousuke: 🎶What a lovely little groom I make🎶
🎶My dear, I'll look divine🎶
🎶Everything is going according🎶
🎶To my ultimate design🎶
🎶Soon I'll have that Little Mermaid🎶
🎶And the ocean be mine~🎶

Rei gulped as Sousuke menacingly before stepping up onto the vanity, grasping it tightly as he cackled maniacally as his reflection slowly dissolved into his real form laughing with his real voice. Rei gasped and quickly flew away towards the castle in hopes of finding Haru to tell him what he had just saw. He spotted Haru, Brook, Rin and Nagisa at the dock so he went in for a landing. "Rei, what are you doing here?" Nagisa asked as the crazy seagull landed. Rei took a couple of seconds to catch his breath before answering the strawberry blonde haired merman.

"Well I was flying. . . Well of course I WAS flying. . . I heard Haru's voice singing coming from the ship. . . It was the sea warlock!! Okay. . . Well the boy was the sea warlock in disguise, but still though." Rei explained wheezily between gasps of air. Rin looked at Rei incredulously, but saw how Haru started to stand up and look at the sunset. I still have time before the sun sets. Alright here goes nothing! Haru thought as he swan dived into the ocean and struggled to keep himself afloat. Rin immediately jumped into action. "Okay, Nagisa, take Haru to the ship as fast as you can!" Rin commanded.

"You got it!" The pale orange tailed merman exclaimed as he went over to Haru, and the two began to swim as fast they could towards the boat. "I'm going to find King Nanase. Brook, you come with me." Rin said as he began to get ready to plunge into the ocean. Brook jumped onto Rin's shoulder signifying he was in. "Wait! What about me?! What am supposed to do?!" Rei asked. He was not going to be left out on this plan. "Do whatever it takes to STALL THE WEDDING!" Rin cried as he went to go find King Nanase in the depths of the blue ocean.

"OKAY TIME TO STALL THE WEDDING!!" Rei yelled as he called his animal friends in his bird call. Flamingoes, seals, birds, seagulls, dolphins, and whatever other sea creatures that heard Rei's call, all went towards the ship in order to stall the wedding. Before it was too late!!
