~*Erica's POV*~
As soon as I end the call on my cell phone, I look up into the mirror on my bedroom wall. Looking at my reflection, I can see the desperate worry in my gold-green eyes. My fingers run through my black hair, making it shimmer an irredescent blue in the light. "Vot der'mo!" I mutter to myself, quickly starting to pace the room. (Russian: Oh shit!)
The phone call had been from Zera's mother. She said that Zera had come home sick from sick around 10 o'clock this morning. However, no one she had spoken to had seen or heard from her since. Zera's mom had called the school, but they said the nurse hadn't seen Zera, let alone sent her home. Zera seemed to have vanished without a trace.
A quick glance at the time told me it was currently 4:36 pm. She must have run away. But why didn't she let me know? Where the hell could she be? My mental discussion ends when I realize I could simply text her to find out what's going on.
'WTF, Zera? If you ran away, you should have told me before your mom did!' I send the message to her, hoping she'll reply soon.
~*Zera's POV*~
Alfred had asked if I wanted to play video games with Gilbert, Kiku, and him. I had enthusiastically agreed, so right now we were setting up an X-Box Live match on Halo 4. I had already hinted that we should all be on the same team because I tend to screen-cheat.
I jump out of my skin, squealing for a second, when my phone vibrates in my pocket. Mathais, who had come with us, looks at me strangely. "What the heck?"
I pull my phone out of my pocket, waving it sheepishly. "It vibrated, and startled me," I explain, "It happens pretty often."
I read the message from Erica. I grin, despite the fact she can't see me. 'Izvinite. I escaped, and I'm now living with some new friends. You won't believe it, but they're the actual Hetalia guys! Allies, Axis, Canada, Prussia, Romano, and Romania. Even the Nordics, but they're cats. It's because Arthur messed up a spell. LMAO Don't worry, I'll be fine. And I'll keep in touch.' I reply to her as quickly as possible. (Russian: Sorry)
I signed on to my X-Box Live account, and we waited for more players. The first to join was a screen name I recognized: DeStRoYeRoFdEsTrUcTiOn. It was my brother Neville's username. Seeing that the countries had headsets, I plugged in one of my own to talk to my only sibling.
"Nev, do you have your headset on?" I spoke nervously, not sure if he would hear me. I knew he would have recognized my own username, it was just a matter of whether or not he would rat me out to our mother.
"Yeah, sis. Where you at?" Neville voice came floating back through the earpiece.
"Um, I'm not telling. And neither will you, right?'
"Nah. 'Cause then I probably wouldn't get to kick your ass here."
"Fat fucking chance. I've got probably the three best video gamers on the planet on my team." I bragged, blowing a raspberry for effect.
"You mean IamAWESOME, PatrioticHamburgers, and SubeteSeizei? I bet!" The scorn was obvious in my brother's voice.
"You better believe it, because I'm pretty sure two of them are the guys who first started designing and programming every video game we have ever played." I glance at Alfred and Kiku. The first grins widely while flashing a thumbs-up, the latter smiles slightly with a dignified nod of his head.
"Und I'm AWESOME!!" Gilbert yelled into his own mouthpiece. The other end was silent for a moment, and I feared our albino friend may have given away who they REALLY were. However, my brother laughed it off, saying he must have been mistaken.
I cover my microphone with my hand, whispering so I was only heard by those in the same room as I. "He knows enough about they anime to recognize your guys' voices. Be careful, or he might figure out more than you want him to."
With that fairly ominous warning, my phone vibrates, making me squeak again. Erica's reply was, 'Ty s uma soshel . Eto nevozmozhno! Tell me the truth!' I sighed, knowing she would need actual proof to believe me. I look at the three guys and cat in the room, the first group still conversing with my brother. (Russian: You're crazy. That's impossible!)
"Hey guys," I say slyly, getting an idea, "Ya'll come over and take a selfie with me?" They all obliged, and I take the picture of us. "Thanks, guys." I send the picture to Erica, along with a few words: 'Proverennaya pravda, suka! ;)' (Russian: Proven true, bitch!)
Just then, the sixteenth player joins our waiting list and the match begins, with four teams of four.
~*Erica's POV*~
I stare dumbfoundedly at the picture on the screen. That's Zera, along with the Hetalia guys I recognixe as America, Prussia, and Japan. The cat Zera is holding must be Denmark, judging by the black hat sitting crookedly on its head. My grip on my phone loosens, and it falls to my pillow. "No fucking way." I say to myself, "But it's true."
I quickly jump up, and run downstairs to find my mother. "Hey mom?" I call out loudly to get her attention.
"Hey, Erica. I spoke to Zera's mom on the phone just now. I know we were planning on you visiting her for a week, but with the current situation..." My mom trailed off. "Do you still want to go?" This coming week is the last full week I have before school starts for me, so we had planned on me staying with Zera for the week.
"Yes, I do." I told her firmly. "I know Zera better than anyone else. I might be able to help find her." I explain.
My mom nods, "Okay, sweetie. You'll just fly down tomorrow like we planned. Make sure you have everything, okay?"
"Yeah, yeah. Thanks mom." I head back upstairs to my room.
I pick up my phone before flopping down on my bed. I text Zera again. 'I'll be down tomorrow like we had planned. I'm going to disappear like you did. Remember the deal we made? Hold it up high, girl.'
~*Zera's POV*~
I'm in the zone right now, destroying everthing that gets in the way of me in my Ghost. I charge after the red team in their gauss warthog, which was currently being driven by my brother. I shoot at them constantly, while effectively avoiding any return fire. I yell in triumph as the warthog explodes, sending the bodies of my brother and his teammates flying and flaming through the air. My meniacal laughter is cut off and abrubtly replaced with Gilbert's when I'm sniped in the back of the head. The game condesendingly announces "Betrayal!" to confirm that it had been my own teammate to kill me.
"We're on the same fucking team, Dummkopf!!" I scream at him. He just laughs, with small tears running down his face from the effort. I give up glaring at him, just in time to see Alfred wink at me before refocusing his attention on the screen.
Gilbert had been sitting in the passenger seat of our own team's warthog when he had sniped me, and he still sat there. Alfred was driving like a mad man, straight toward an enemy fort. When he was within their range, he leaped from the driver's seat and allowed the warthog to continue rolling, with Gilbert still in the passenger seat. The enemy promptly riddled Gilbert and the warthog with bullets. The real-life Gilbert stopped laughing and opened his eyes just in time to witness his demise. He stuttered and yelled protests, but the only reply was, "Karma's a bitch!" from Alfred, Neville, and I.
Just after I respawn at my team's base, my phone vibrates with a new message. With a promise from Kiku that he wouldn't let me die, I pull out my phone to read the text. Smiling a bit, I reply, 'You wanna meet them? Here: *Holds up deal* See ya soon, sis.' I type in the address we're at, then hit send.
