DANIELLA'S POV
Samantha's car was finally pulled to a stop. I sighed, thinking of the big day ahead of me. Today was finally Friday which meant our school's 20th anniversary party; which meant I was gonna play the piano in front of thousands of people. The special guests, teachers, students and relatives of the students. Just thinking about it made me really excited. The event was to start by 7pm but most of us students are here this morning for rehearsals; as well as setting up the place where the party would be held.
"I can't wait for tonight," I said voicing my thoughts as Sam and I got out of the car.
"I know right? You're going to be performing on stage in that killer dress I picked out." She says grinning.
"Uh..You mean you and Rachel picked out."
"Yeah yeah she helped out a bit."
I vividly remember Rachel being the one who found the dress in the boutique but I decided not to say anything to Sam so she wouldn't argue with me. I had neither the time nor the energy.
"Sure she did."
Sam suddenly starts smirking at me. I look at her confused.
"Why're you smiling at me creepily?" I ask, eyebrows raised.
"Turn around."
I did as she requested and sure enough, my eyes meet the reason why she was smiling at me like a freak. Standing a few feet away from me was Zeke AKA my crush for about two months now. He was basically the boy- next-door. Kind, nice and good looking too. His eyes suddenly meet mine; catching me staring at him. I quickly look away clearly embarrassed.
"He's heading this way!"
Sam suddenly informs me which starts make me nervous.
"I better go. I'll see you inside."
"Sam wait!"
But she was gone before I could finish. The nerve she has; abandoning me in the parking lot when I needed her the most.
"Hey there."
My attention shifts to Zeke who was suddenly by my side.
"Hey Zeke! How are you?" I greeted, returning his smile.
"I'm good. How about you?"
"Great now that you're here." I shrieked out excitedly. It immediately dawned on me the error of the words I let out. I panicked; wanting to fix it as quickly as possible.
"I mean I was great before you came to meet me of course I was why wouldn't I be? I'm performing today so yeah I feel great but you came over here and I feel greater that's what I meant." I let out in one breath as Zeke stared at me amused.
Rambling was a thing I sometimes did around guys I crush on. So yeah, hence the rambling.
He let out a chuckle staring at me.
"You're funny you know that?"
"Sure do. I'm Daniella Martinez for a reason."
"So..you're performing tonight?" He asked as we finally start leaving the parking lot heading inside the school.
"Yup. I'm playing the piano."
"That's great Dani."
"Thanks! What about you?"
"Well I'm not doing anything particularly. I'm just going to help set up the place and that's all."
"Then you're being really helpful. I'm sure those muscles can come in handy."
