Everything fell--people, buildings, empires.  They all had their times.  And for the Moniyan Empire?  Its time had come.

The Abyss was unstoppable.  Wave after wave, force after force was sent in, towards the Moniyan walls.  It had only been a matter of time until they broke, never a when the Abyss would be defeated.  It only took a few days, the Abyss's sudden growth in strength a surprise to the Empire and, so, it fell.

The Abyssal demons and monsters came charging in, screaming with a war cry that none could call humanlike.  Death came as an epidemic, its spreaders the Abyss.  People barely had time to let out a scream, let alone goodbyes to their loved ones.  Only the lucky held that privilege--if such a thing was even to be considered lucky.

"Alu?"

Gusion's voice seemed to draw Alucard out from his thoughts, the blonde's expectant gaze going back down to Gusion.  In the limited light, it was barely able to see the state the duo were in--hairs a mess, brown streaks of dirt on both their faces, clothes stained with it.  A shower or bath would fix it, but a shower was a luxury they were unable to have.  The rocks trapping them made sure of it.

Gusion opened his mouth to say his words, but instead flinched as the rocks above them shifted with a loud noise, covering the small noise of fright he made.  Instinctively, he grabbed out onto Alucard's hand, head leaning forward onto his shoulder.  Gusion was trembling, he knew that, but it was okay, right?  In this situation.  Rocks doomed to fall loose onto their bodies any second.  Such a stupid trap set by the Abyss, intended for a group of soldiers, but instead..  "I'm scared, Alu."  His words were quiet, shaky.

"I am too, Gus."  Alucard admitted, arm reaching around Gusion and pulling him in closer.

They stayed in that position for a few moments, basking in each other's presence and warmth before their inevitable deaths.  Then, hesitantly, Gusion slightly pulled back, head tilted up to look at Alucard.  A few loose pebbles fell to the ground behind him.

"How much do you love me, Alucard?"

A simple question.

The demon hunter leaned forward, gently pressing his forehead against Gusion's as he spoke.  "I love you more than myself, more than hunting demons, and more than I ever did my parents.  My love for you is as countless as the stars in the sky."

"Truly?"  Gusion breathed, hand giving Alucard's a squeeze.

"Truly."  Alucard answered with a smile, bringing up their interlocked hands and giving Gusion's a small kiss.

"Even in a moment like this, you can still easily make me flustered."  Gusion said with a dry laugh, a smile on his face nevertheless.  "I love you too, Alucard.  More than anything in this world.  There's nobody else I'd want to die in the arms of."  He leaned in, connecting the few inches gap between their lips in a soft kiss.  Loving and gentle, sweet and savory.

With it, the rocks above them began to rumble again, their tremors sending dirt cascading down, worsening the quality of th air of which they could breathe.  Not that such would matter in the coming moments, though.

The first rock unlodged itself, begin its fall in a seemingly slow way.  More were soon to follow after, the gravity weighing them down too much for the objects to resist.  They fell down, gaining momentum as they went, heading down to a pair of lovers who desperately clutched onto each other as their shared one final, loving kiss.

It was a much better death than dying to the hand's of a demon.
