Itachi hit another three shuriken perfectly to the targets. I smiled at him as I held up my fist for him to bump. There then came a high pitched voice yelling from the other side of the clearing.
"Nii-san! Nii-san!!"
A little Sasuke emerged from the trail that was bent around the trees. When he saw me he immediately stopped and ran to hide behind his brother. I was wearing my Anbu uniform, so he couldn't see my face. Honestly I think it's just bad timing, because every time he sees me I'm in uniform and now I swear he's terrified of me, or just plain hates me.
"Sasuke, what are you doing here?" Itachi's voice was soft and calm, but I could hear a bit of irritation behind his words. Sasuke glanced at me cautiously before turning his head to Itachi, still hiding behind him.
"You promised you'd help me train today, Nii-san!"
"Well, Sasuke, I'm a bit busy right now. We can train later." Sasuke was almost on the verge of tears. Itachi sighed and turned around to face his body towards him. He got down on one knee and poked Sasuke in the middle of his forehead.
"Forgive me, Sasuke, next time."
A small tear slid down Sasuke's reddened cheek. It tugged at my heart a little to see the brother of my best friend/student so sad. I smiled a little under my mask and spoke up.
"Hey! Why don't you, Sasuke, train with your brother and me?"
Sasuke's face lit up and he looked up to Itachi for approval, who in turn looked at me the same way, and I just nodded. We spent the rest of the day training until Sasuke passed out from exhaustion. Though I could tell he didn't like me very much, Sasuke was a talented kid and I saw that he would follow in his brother's footsteps.
Or so I thought....

I was awoken from my sleep by the loud voice of Naruto. I sat up on my sleeping pad. We were in a makeshift wooden house that Tenzo made. We spent the day before traveling through the woods, so we were exhausted last night. It must've been early in the morning because it was still dark outside, but Naruto was very eager to leave.
We got on the road at about six in the morning. We erased any trace of us being there and started to jump through the trees. Memories were werling through my head as we ran. I couldn't help but reminisce on all the good times I had with Itachi.
We traveled for hours until we were all fairly tired; it was about eight at night. Luckily we reached a small but bustling and lit up town. We checked into the hotel and headed straight for the hot spring's changing room.
My mind was still pretty fogged, so instead of going to the hot springs I decided to hit the town and get a drink. I traveled down the well lit and energetic streets. There was something so beautiful about a small town at night. The shining signs, the lit up restaurants, the many people, couples, and families. It brought me back to a memory of when I went with Itachi and Kakashi to the Festival of Light back in Konoha.
---------------
(Third Person. There's a first time for everything)
The streets were lit up brilliantly as Kakashi and Itachi walked along towards the meeting place they had all agreed on. Many people were out-and-about to celebrate the annual Festival of Light. There were lanterns hanging from rooftops, and candles glowing in window sills.
They reached the fountain in the center of town. There were lily pads with lit up candles floating on the water; it was a beautiful sight. All the lanterns glowing in the background as couples sat at the lit up pool. But it wasn't the light that caught Kakashi's eye.
Aman stood waiting by the water. She was wearing a black sleeveless kimono with two slits up her legs. A red rose pattern wrapped around her torso and went down the front and back of the dress. In between the roses were other small blue flowers along the vines and leaves. The yellow and orange light reflected off her long, wavy onyx hair. But what captured Kakashi's attention the most was the way the light of the flickering candles bounced off her dark sapphire, wolf like, eyes.
There was an old saying that the most beautiful things are often the most dangerous. A rose with its thorns, and jungle with its tigers, even Aman with all the darkness she had within her, looked like an angel that had seen hell; beautiful yet so hurt.
Aman turned her head towards Itachi and Kakashi. Kakashi was so entranced he didn't even hear his younger companion call Aman's name. A smile graced her features. She had yet to receive her scar, so her face looked even more angelic. Aman ran over to Itachi and embraced him. She then turned to Kakashi, and paused, a bit stunned. She looked him up and down, only then realizing what he was wearing.
Kakashi wore a black tuxedo (I know it's not traditional!), with a grey vest underneath, and a red bowtie to top it off. The suit fit him perfectly. Well almost. The sleeves looked like they were about to rip every time he bent his elbows. But otherwise, he looked perfect. It was even better because he had his headband off, so some of his hair fell to cover a bit of his left eye. They both snapped out of their trance and greeted each other.
"Hey," Kakashi said not really knowing what else to say.
"Hi," Aman laughed a bit.
"Y-You look...stunning. None of these light hold a comparison to you," Kakashi said slipping back into a trance. Aman rubbed the back of her neck, and was trying not to smile like a fool.
"Thanks, and so do you. The formal look really suits you." Kakashi blushed a bit under his mask, and gave a closed-eye smile. They were so caught up in each other they forgot about their younger companion. That is, until he cleared his throat. Aman and Kakashi were snapped out of their thoughts and turned their heads to Itachi, and he just smiled, as if saying 'I'm here to ya' know!'
They spent the whole night laughing, eating, drinking, and over all having a wonderful time. But at the end of the day, when the lights are out, the drinks are gone, and the laughing stops, good things never last...
----------------
I stared at the bottom of my now empty glass, and thought of how things used to be. When our world was calm and bright; when we weren't affected by the pain and destruction around us. I rose from the bar, paid for my drink, and left back to the inn to prepare for the next day, when we meet Sasuke. If that's who he even is anymore.
