AlenaThe boy I have to look after is really cute and I am shocked that he gets such good grades. I mean that is what the American's definition of what a nerd is, but by the pictures and description of his alter-ego Spider-Man, they're nothing alike!
The Parker boy is quiet, barely known by anyone, has two friends, super smart, builds computers, is in honors classes, and other smart kid things.
Spider-Man is known by everyone in Queens and the surrounding area, is loved by everyone he saves, is very sarcastic witty and daring and loves to show off.
Polar opposites! But I don't understand why I was given the smart kid when I have trouble with basic things. But I look at the profile of my role.
My name is Allie Kejins, I am fifteen who is from Ontario, Canada, and lived in Russia for three years. I take advanced English, and take Spanish as the foreign language class, (which I have drilled into my head how to speak it ever since I was new to the Red Room.) dance as a sports class, and be on the academic decathlon team with someone named Annabeth who I'm guessing is Annushka. Along with being a cheerleader, and in musical theater so I could watch over one of Peter's unknown habits of being a stagehand.
"Bronya, Annushka. What are your mission names?" I ask out of pure curiosity. Annushka stares at me like I committed a crime which technically I did, by speaking out loud, but Bronya replies quietly, "Brandy Sadutora from London, England, she's sixteen. What's yours?"
"I play Allie Kejins, from Ontario, Canada. I get to be fifteen. Annushka?" I whisper.
"Annabeth Chase, seventeen, LA, spent a year in a Russian Science School," Annushka quietly shoots, all of her focus on her file. I nod. I have no idea what LA is but I'll find out sooner or later.
"Let's work on our acting. Brandy, what's it like in England?" I ask Bronya applying the Canadian accent.
"Oh England," Bronya replies playing along in a surprisingly realistic English accent. "It's not much different from here, but there everything looks more formal and dare I say plain compared to here. There's less color."
"Brony- I mean Brandy that was such a good accent and you sure have lots of information in your file. So Annabeth, where's LA? And what's it like there?" I ask Annushka.
"LA is the abbreviation of Los Angeles which is in California and is on the West Coast of the United States. It's very warm there and I don't see any Palm trees, or beaches here like there were at home. But I'm specifically from Santa Monica. And what's Ontario like? I've never been to Canada but I wish to. And how was Russia? I want to hear your experience there," Annushka shot back. She was good.
"Oh, Ontario is just your average Canadian town. Very cold winters, barely warm summers. I'm not very used to the Customary system, and I would rather use Celsius. Russia was a very complicated and strict place, and so was the school. We had to wear uniforms unlike here, and they spoke in Russian which I luckily already know. Their computer science program was much better but it was specifically a science school so that may be why. So yeah that's me," I reply in Allie's sheepish way letting my Russian accent slip in.
She is very different from me personality-wise, and she speaks softly in an almost American accent, but with stranger vowels. If there is a silence, like me, she would want to break it and speak. She is very witty with her words and can be sarcastic in some ways, but she thinks of what she is going to say before she says it. Like practicing her lines in her head while in a conversation.
"We should probably practice situations on what might put us on the spot. And study the students," Bronya suggests. She holds up a picture of a boy with dark brown hair with brown eyes. He has on what I learn to be a letterman jacket and looks like the boy version of Tiana. He has a bit of a glowing aura around him that is very subtle, that only the keenest eyes can be able to notice it.
"Is that... Calvin Lenaya," I answer. She nods. Annushka looks rather angry she hadn't gotten the answer in time. I lift up the picture of Peter Parker, and Annushka replies as fast as she can, "Peter Parker." I nod.
Annushka holds hers up smiling smugly thinking we won't get it. But I recognize him. "Perseus Jackson," I say. Her smirk gone from her face, and we go on like that for a little while.
I have my share of turns as do the other two for who they know, and when I hold up one picture Annushka tenses. "That's.... it-it can't be!" Annushka gasps keeping her voice at the Red Room's requirement. "She's someone from here. Her mission name is Isabella Toople. But she went missing after a fight she lost," Annushka informs us. I can't believe that the Red Room just let that slip if it is valuable information. And just like that, there is a spy already watching us.
Bronya
Annushka is driving me crazy in some ways. But information is information. And knowing who to watch for, will be helpful. So I keep that as a mental note in my head.
We spend hours studying the students, until they are all drilled into my head. But we aren't finished there. We have to practice being our characters.
"Oh, crumpets! My life is over! I can't do the cheer routine! Cuz I'm totally trying to do it," I exclaim quietly adding the last part in Russian using my British accent that was going to kill me.
"Ok practice again next week. My gods this is exhausting. Red Room sleeping hours start now, so let's go to bed before they find us awake when we need to sleep," Annushka orders.
Annushka is taking the role of being the leader of our mission. But we also have to work on our cover story as to how we know each other. I'll worry about that tomorrow. But right now I want to sleep.
And sleep I do. Except, I have a dream. One I haven't had for a long time.
"Brandy! Brandy slow down! Brandy come on please!" As before, I am walking down a hallway that has what I now understand to be lockers. They are a deep blue color. I also know this place is Midtown High School which is filled with many colors I have seen almost like a lifetime ago.
"What Calvin what do you want? What would be so important that I would need to stop what I'm doing and talk to you?" It is my words and I finally know who I am talking to. My mission.
"Peter told me what you are. And who your 'cousins' are. And I know-," Calvin is whispering to me my body frozen in fear. But I can't let down the mission.
"No Calvin you don't know what you're talking about and-," I start but he cuts me off.
"Brandy. You can walk away. I know a place where you won't have to watch for them. You won't have to run. Just come with me. Please, Brandy. I can't lose you to them," he pleads.
He cares for me I know that. I've always known that. But then how can he know about the Red Room, if he's only seen one side of me?
The dream is over, and things are finally clearing up. The Red Room is hiding something from me. There is something I am going find out when I go to America. And I will make sure that I do.
