Regina's POV
"Still here?"
"Can I take you home?" I nod. Henry is awake only because I got off early because I'm so tired. It's 7:38.
"How about bed?" I ask him tiredly.
"Okay mommy."
"Thank you baby." I pick him up and go outside. It's so cold.
"You okay?" Emma rubs my arms from behind me and I smile.
"Can I hug you?" She asks.
"From behind?" She nods and I nod nervously. Her arms wrap around my waist and her front molds to my back. I give a small smile. This is really nice. I don't want to move. Her head comes to my shoulder.
"Okay let's go." I move and she just moves with me not letting go. I smile and put Henry in the car. Emma drives and we keep quiet so Henry will go to bed.
"When will our date happen?"
"I am off this weekend if I don't pick up. So the day after tomorrow? If that's good for you." I say nervously.
"That's great."
"Great." I say blushing.
"You still want to cook for me?" She asks and I nod.
"I can't wait for the day after tomorrow." She says which makes me smile.
"I'm excited too."
"Mommy?"
"Yes baby?" I say and he snuggles into my neck.
"You okay Henry?"
"Cowd. And tiwed."
"Go inside it's cold and I'm sure you're tired too."
"You sure. I can put him to bed and we can sit on the stairs and talk for a little. It's not too late."
"Yeah sure. I'll wait here." I go inside and shake my head smiling to myself. I put Henry to bed and then I come back out. I go to sit but Emma stops me. She takes off her jacket and puts it down. I smile and sit.
"Can I wrap my arm around you?" I move a litter closer and her arm is now around my waist. I set my head on her shoulder a little tense but I relax.
"We're you a really bad kid growing up?" I ask.
"Why you ask?"
"You just seem like a bad kid. I don't know why."
"Yeah I was, a bit. I smoked and drank a lot, I got drunk and partied. Failed my classes but now I work at a police station. I used to get arrested all the time. Fights. Suspended. I was terrible and for no real reason."
"What changed?"
"I was in the hospital after a crazy night. I got cross faded. Which means smoke and drank which isn't good at all. I woke up and my mom was crying because the doctor said I could've died but somehow I'm here. I was drinking way too much and being high on top of that. It wasn't good. So I finally stopped. Seeing my mom cry like that, it broke my heart. I didn't like seeing her cry like that. She was so happy I made it and it broke my heart because I could've sworn she never loved me. I can't stand to see her cry and after seeing her cry, it wasn't okay. I didn't like that. So I just stopped. It was hard but it was worth it. Got my shit together. I couldn't live like that."
"Wow. I'm proud of you. That you saw you were doing something wrong and stopped."
"Yeah. Thanks. We're you a bad kid?"
"God no. My mother was too strict. I wasn't allowed out. School, violin lessons, dance practice, piano lessons and that was it. Home. And church on the weekends."
"I'm sure you were just adorable as a teen."
"Why you say that?"
"Cause you now, you probably blushed all the time and was super shy. So cute I bet."
"I was. And I'm still a kid. Life just made me grow up quicker."
"I'm sorry."
"No it's okay. I wasn't allowed to be a kid. I didn't have friends."
"That sucks."
"Yeah." I snuggle closer to her move my arms over her lap. We talk and talk and talk forever it feels like. Learning every little thing about each other.
"This is nice."
"You have work in the morning."
"I know."
"But I don't want to leave."
"I should. It's... geez it's 2 am." She says in shock looking at her phone.
"Wow."
"I should go. You're only going to get a few hours of sleep now."
"Yeah. Sorry I kept you out for so long."
"No, I enjoyed it a lot. I like being with you. Well hanging out with you." She says and I look down.
"I do too." We walk to my door and I sigh.
"Have a good night." She says and I nod.
"I don't want you to leave. I don't know why this is so hard."
"I know. It sucks."
"Alright. Go before I chain you to the steps."
"I'm the one with the cuffs."
"Oh Henry will only love you more knowing you're saving the world."
"Mostly busting drug dealers who are kids and petty crimes. Like theft. But one person at a time I guess. It's just nice to feel like you're helping in a way. Cops have terrible reputations and I'm white so it's kind of terrible. Especially when I pull a dark skinned person over. I just want to do the right thing."
"It's a great thing. A lot of cops don't care. I'm glad the world has someone like you. But I'm even more glad I know you."
"You are special person Regina Marie Mills."
"Special?" I ask.
"To me."
"Glad I am to you. You're special to me and Henry. The only person I will ever let get close to him. I just might have to kidnap you."
"I will happily help you find your lost cat." I laugh.
"Even if you said you're more of a dog person." She says smiling. I laugh again.
"Your laugh is so beautiful." I blush.
"Leave." She nods and walks away. I bite my lip.
"Wait wait." I run to her and I get on my tippy tippy toes and kiss her cheek softly.
"Thank you. I feel like I never laugh or smile this much unless I'm with Henry. This is nice."
"I'll make you smile whenever you need it. I just need a cheesy pick up line on hand at all times."
"Okay goodnight Ms Swan."
"Goodnight beautiful." I blush and walk to my apartment. I turn back around and she smiles. I go inside and bite my lip. I'm so freaking happy!
