----UPDATED VERSION----

Monday came way to fast. My weekend started off shitty but ended up being exciting. Two more weeks of school, I can do this. I was excited to tell Professor Scott about my interview with S&L, I knew he would be proud. Mr. Scott was always like a father to me since mine was far away and I always appreciated his advice.

Once he told me" To be successful you have to lay a good foundation, get with a company that you can see potential growth, and always look for opportunities to exceed any expectations' that you might have for you or your company." He was a wise man. He spent many years in business, and still does since he only teaches business part time at the college. He said he does that to keep an eye out for new and inventive ways to the world worked.

When I got to his office, he was sitting behind the desk sorting through papers of all sorts. I knocked on the door.

"Professor Scott, can I bother you for a moment?" He looked up at me with a grin that made me smile.

"Hello Alice, it's always a delight to see you, what can I do for you today?"

"Well first off, I just wanted to thank you for always watching out for me over the last few years and all the wonderful advice that I have taken to heart. Seems to be paying off by the way, I got the interview with S&L I'm pretty excited about it." He smiled leaning forward from his desk, the way he looked at me through his glasses told me he knew something that I didn't.

"Congratulations my dear, I'm sure you'll get the job, a girl like you with your ideas and knowledge would promote quickly in a company like that. I know some of the big guys over there. They would appreciate your hard work and efforts." I couldn't help but to smile and get even more excited about it.

"Do you really think so? I mean it's a great company and they have progressed quickly over the last five years. I just hope I could be profitable to the company." He couldn't help but to laugh and I started to question everything I just said.

"Of course, you have excelled wonderfully in the business side of everything you're a woman who knows what she wants. Women like you are forces to be reckoned with if you ask me. Now, I'm sure whatever position you get you will be wonderful at it."

"Thank you, Mr. Scott, for everything.'

"Well your very welcome my dear. Now speaking of exciting news, I graded your paper the other night. I must say it was some paper you wrote." His tone made me nervous, and my palms started sweating a little bit. I started wiping them on my pants.

"Now Alice, don't get that look on your face. I was going to tell you what a wonderful job you did. Now where did I put that damn thing, ah here it is."

He handed me the paper and in a big red penmanship was an A.

"Are you serious? You gave me an A, this can't be right."

"Well of course Alice, you have had A's all year, why would this surprise you now?" I hesitated my answer.

"Well, I thought I did well, for my last paper I didn't think I would do that good. I guess this just makes everything feel final." He smiled at my reply.

"Well, one more piece of advice? Nothing is ever final till you have the final say so. Whether it's a pen on paper or in your life, remember that." 'Thank you, Mr. Scott, truly." "Your welcome my dear, now let's get to class. I'll see you tomorrow."
