(A/N for those who don't see much joy in little five year olds getting excited and hopeless guys trying to organise birthday parties. Feel free to skip this chapter. It isn't crucial to the story)
Lucy's birthday was coming up fast. I didn't know what to do! I wanted to do something extra special for her because it was her 5th birthday. Usually, normal kids get to go to school and stuff, but since there is no school, Mia has been helping to teach Lucy some things so that she can grow up properly. I had no idea where my wife was. So asking her for ideas wasn't going to work. Zac walks in and says "dude, you're wife accidentally locked herself in a cupboard. We need you're help to get her out". "Ok! I have wanted to break into a cupboard for a while now, why wait?" I say jokingly. It takes us like 25 minutes to get her out. That was one tough cupboard! I go back into my room and brainstorm. I could find a jumpy castle and blow that up. We could construct a water slide. I need help. I walk downstairs and find Taylor. " I need you're advice on something" I say. "Sure! What can I do for you". "Well, Lucy's birthday is coming up and I am hopeless at coming up with ideas". After an hour. We have everything planned out. "Great! Thanks for you're help" I say to Taylor. I must find things to do with princesses and nail polish. I think to myself. That's what girls like, right? I the. Have a look at the plan. It has nothing to do with nail polish. It's a full out party with music and games. I managed to get a phone tower working in our backyard a few years back. It's become really useful when I want to do something quietly. I text Zac and ask him to come up to my room. I tell him of my plans and ask him to help. "Ok, I'll help. But only because you're daughter is cute". I find some speakers and a dj set up in the shed. I set that up and look around for some music. Turns out that there is USB upon USB of music in the box. Each one has a particular artist on it. I select a few tracks from some of the artists that I know, and load them onto a clear USB. I set up an old laptop and find that there is no password on it. "Wow! That was lucky" Zac says walking past. I set up everything and find a whole bunch of useful computer programs. There is Music making software and great functions to help with editing music. Zac has pulled out some other computers and is setting up a movie theatre. We select some movies and go downstairs to grab some snacks. Everything is set up ready for tommorow. I hope she likes it. "Thanks for you're help bro!" Say to Zac. "Anytime mate" he says and goes to his room. I go into my room and get changed. It has been a long day, and I hope it pays off. Eva and Mia had been entertaining Lucy all day and I had to thank them for it. I got up and trudged down the stairs. Mike and Lloyd where doing some target practice at a house down the street so I wouldn't see them for a while. Lucy came up to me and hugged me. "I got my nails painted Daddy!" She sad to me. "They look very pretty" I reply and look at them. Mia and Eva walk in, looking exhausted. "I got everything ready" I whisper to my wife. "Thankyou Leo" she says and falls into my arms. I pick her up and carry her to the stairs. "Put me down at once!" She says. "Ok, Ok!" I reply with mock hurt. We walk upstairs together and put Lucy to bed. When we get to our room we collapse on the bed, so tired that we fall asleep fully clothed.
The next morning. Eva and I wake up to find Lucy sitting on top of us. "Good morning Mummy! Good morning Daddy!". "Happy Birthday Lucy!" We both say. She squeals with excitement and claps her hands. Mia, Mike, Taylor, Zac and Lloyd walk on singing happy birthday and holding so many presents that I couldn't see half of their faces. She claps her hands more and jumps up and down. Zac gives her a present and she unwraps it furiously. "Yay! A doll!" She says, obviously pleased with her gift. Mike walks out of the room and wheels a huge present in. "We thought you might like this" Taylor says. Lucy literally jumps onto it. The wrapping paper flies off and a huge dolls house is revealed. She squeals so loud that my ears hurt. "THANKYOU SO MUCH!" She screams. Lloyd gives her the next present. She unwraps it and finds a love-heart shaped box with a picture on it. The picture is of me and Eva with our newborn child. I remember that picture. I can't believe that was five years ago. Time flies. "Lucy hugs Lloyd and thanks him for his gift. Mia is next. Lucy takes the small present in her hands and gently unwraps it. Underneath is a small box, much like the one that I had when I proposed to Eva. She opens the box and there is a pair of earrings inside. They are simple yet nice. "When you want to, I can pierce you're ears for you" Mia says to Lucy. "Yay!" Lucy says and thanks Mia for the gift. Zac is next. The reveals a long present from behind his back. "Be careful with it, it's very fragile" he says. Under the wrapping is the most sophisticated hand held telescope I have ever seen. Lucy holds it up and puts it to her eye. "Wow! This is cool!" She says, quite excited at having her very own telescope. We continue giving her presents until we run out. Mia cooks us all a great breakfast and we laugh the morning away with games and dancing. In the afternoon, we all go for a swim in the pool. Mike starts to teach Lucy how to swim and Eva and I watch. Lucy is a fast learner, and catches on quickly. In no time at all she is swimming up and down the length of the pool with ease and confidence. After that we go inside and eat dinner. There is a roast prepared for us as we walk in, and Lucy wolfs down everything we give her. She finishes the meal with a huge burp and us guys are impressed. We go off and watch a movie afterwards. I really think that Lucy enjoyed her birthday. I love her a lot, and I would do anything for her. I fall asleep on the couch and Eva draws on my face. I wake up with pictures of butterflies and rainbows on my face. My long hair is braided into a long pony tail. Zac takes a picture and everyone sets it as their background on their phone. "Thanks guys" I say sarcastically and stare at them. We end up just laughing lots and enjoying being together. Lucy starts to get sleepy and we put her to bed. Us adults start talking about the day. Our conversation wanders and we end up talking about Taylor and Eva. "Our kids are going to be the same age! That's gong to be so cool!" Zac says. It's obvious that both Taylor and Eva are going to have a child. Taylor and and Zac get deep in conversation with Lloyd about their child and Eva and I go to bed. "What a great day" I say, sliding under the covers. "I can't believe it. We are married and have child. I remember when we first met in that hospital" Eva says. "I remember that I fell in love with you the day I saw you" I reply. She kisses me lightly and snuggles up to me. "I love you" we both say and fall asleep.
I'm dedicating this chapter to people who don't know anything about jewellery and find it hard to write about it. Lol. I had to put Lucy's birthday into the story. It's important that she is five years old. I'm not gong to say any more. The next chapter may be after Taylor and Eva have their children. I haven't decided yet. All I know is that one is going to be a girl, and one is going to be a boy. I was thinking of Peter as the boy's name and Charlotte as the girl's name. Tell me what you think!
