At first, it was merely a scientific curiosity that kept the Zeroans glued to earth, but their perception started changing when they recorded the moment they heard the first birdsong. Since Zero did not have any animals, the multitude of fauna was terribly interesting to them. From the water-dwelling creatures came those who walked on land. And millions of life forms burst into the planet, like one colourful menagerie. There were dinosaurs, tortoises, and winged creatures as well. It seemed that mere recording of the number of species of plants and animals would take ages. A Zero valued knowledge above all, and since there were so few secrets in science and technology left for them to uncover, this new planet gave them a whole new channel of research. It fed into their natural curiosity and it was with great excitement that they threw themselves into the study of the earth.

Things became even more interesting when the bipeds arrived, descended from ape-like creatures, then Neanderthals and finally humans. They were like Zeroans but quite unlike them at the same time. A group of Zeroan researchers and scientists devoted themselves to the study of earth and evolution. In time, it became a subject that was taught to those interested, at school and during advanced studies. Although not many chose to learn about it, the field would grow in importance in the later years. However, in the beginning, it was like any other field of research. Theories were expounded, proven or disproven. Studies were carried out and data was recorded faithfully and digitally saved. They were still not interested in humans as a study subject since the latter was still very primitive. They continued to be observed nonetheless. Gradually people on earth advanced their technologies and communication, which were still no were near the Zeroans' though.
