"Y/N! Y/N!" A deep voice rumbled through your apartment like oncoming thunder. You sat breathlessly against a wall in your living room, your beloved pet clutched in your arms like a stuffed animal you refused to let go of. Heavy footfalls tugged your tired gaze up from the hardwood floor, and you watched in a daze as the bulky terrapin knelt in front of you.

"Are you alright?" You blinked back in response and saw that his concerned gaze hardened into a protective glare that sparked an ember of a feeling you couldn't quite name. "Come on, Y/N. Say something."

"You... have really pretty eyes." His fingers skimmed gently across your cheek. Leo's thumb roved gentle circles across your jawline.

"Are you hurting anywhere?" You blinked again with painstaking slowness before turning your head to start gently nuzzling into his palm with your nose.

"Don't think so." Leo didn't quite know what to do with himself, this was a form of contact he's never experienced before. The feeling in his chest was something he didn't know how to name. He watched his hand melt into your touch, his thumb roving small circles into the curve of your jaw. What was he doing? How did he get to this point?

"Are you sure that nobody will see us?" He turned his electric gaze over to the girl standing with her chin pointed towards the smoggy skies. Her E/C orbs flicked around as she followed the fire escape up the brickwork to the big balcony doors of her apartment living room.

"Yeah, all the neighbors have their shades down to keep others from looking in on them. We'll be fine. And my doors should still be opened from when I was painting... though I still don't remember opening them." Leo gently cleared his throat and motioned towards the suspended ladder that lead to the first landing.

"Shall we?" You nodded firmly and the two of you moved towards the ladder, the taller bara reaching up to pull down the metal rail with ease. With the ladder down and clicked into place, Leo turned his sky hued gaze over towards you as he waved towards the steps.

"After you." You smiled lightly and stepped by him.

"And they say chivalry is dead." You could hear his low laughter as you started to make your way up the fire escape steps. The metal groaned behind you to let you know that the turtle was following. The way to your floor was riddled with high-intensity moments, the two of you freezing in place with hearts thrumming full of terror with every little noise. A cat knocking over a trash can for food nearly sent Leonardo on the attack, the mangy little feline almost catching a throwing star in the neck thanks to his jittery reflexes.

"Leo," you hiss under your breath to make his sharp glaze snapped from the unfortunate animal to you, senses on high alert for an enemy. "Will you calm down?!"

"No, we're trying to infiltrate a comprised location and you're asking me to be calm?" A chattering couple on the sidewalk made Leo snap around and yank his much smaller counterpart towards him, the slam of brickwork into your spine rattling your organs as they got crushed back into the wall by Leo's plastron. Letting out a pressed sigh, you slipped your fingers under the wooden chest cover to gently tug and break his attention away from the vanishing couple.

"We're not infiltrating anything, we're going to my apartment-"

"Which is in the heart of Purple Dragon territory, who knows you know us-"
