Kalico: Shower Shy Bonding

Kalico and Team, Girls Locker Room Showers, Thursday Morning

We Four Clowns entered the locker room more or less together. We had locked elbows as we departed from our places in front of the coach and moved toward the door as a tandem-unit.

After a few steps we encountered the three other freshmen more or less hesitating where they stood. Without a word, Yolanda released her grasp on our elbows and stepped between two of the other freshmen. Flower and I caught her hint and grabbed other elbows, and then Amy joined on the end.

The result was a chain of seven freshmen dragging each other into the dressing room, with one of the Four Clowns taking a place in each of the alternate positions.

"We are all going to survive this with at least a Freshman Team, Yolanda told the other girls. Get in here and do whatever we do."

The other freshmen girls appeared confused, but they complied.

The noise level in the locker room was rather loud by the time we entered.

Our group picked some lockers more or less away from the crowd, so we could get down to business without bothering the upperclassmen. Yolanda began unbuttoning someone's shirt – Shiner, I think. She told Shiner and Missy Mack to get started pulling someone else's clothes off.

I didn't think I knew their names so well, but the third one, Heather, somehow became my charge. I realized it was up to me to mentor this girl through the shower so she passes the Coach's drill – whatever the coach has in mind for us.

Amy and Flower took charge of Missy Mack. Well, Amy went for the soap and shampoo for everyone else real soon, but then eventually rejoined our corner of the teamwork.

Heather's real name is Taylor Wilson, but I guess she wanted a more feminine nickname. Missy Mack, is really McKenzie Boyd. I guessed it was obvious how that nickname developed.

Shiner, Yolanda's partner in our stripping game, is named Haley Knight. She wanted a more tomboyish nickname, so she took hers from the Knight in Shining Armor. I think Haley is just fine for a girl's name, but I agree, it's not very tomboyish.

From the pitch of more than a dozen girls' voices, I couldn't tell if we were entering a political discussion or a cat fight. It turned out to be a little of both.

I could not match most of the words to particular names or faces as the crescendo resonated. (I tried to say the crescendo crescendated but the word processor changed it. It is my journal, I should be able to make up words for it if I want to, shouldn't I?)

Here is some of it – as best as I can remember.

"Hold still, we'll skin this stuff right off you. You can bond with us by pulling someone's shirt off or shorts down." That was Yolanda, instructing our three captive freshmen about their parts in the proceedings.

"Everything into the locker. Don't give the coach reason to be mad at us." That was Captain Janice, I think.

"He said this morning he had something different planned. This is different." That came from Flower, obviously.

"You mean you undressed each other Tuesday?" I don't know who said that, but she was starting to get the drift from watching we Four Clowns and the Freshmen.

"That is right. Start getting yourselves bonded. Undress someone!" Yolanda, being practical again. Shiner pulled Yolanda's short's down. Shiner's expression was classic – as if she could not believe what she was doing.

"I don't need nobody to undress me – especially another girl!

"Then get yourself skinned off the best way you can, because anyone not in the shower and scrubbing gets kicked off the team." Captain Janice again.
