Heartless?

Chapter 2

I wake up from my sleep. I look around disoriented. I see my rapier in the corner and remember where I am.
I sit up slowly stretching. I yawn and get off the bed. I walk over to the curtain and open the window. I see the sun up still. It's probably about midday. I look at my phone and confirm it. It's only 2:34.
I grab my rapier and walk out of my room. I go down the elevator and walk outside. The streets were pretty empty.
I walk down the sidewalk. I look around for a place to eat. I see a little hole in the wall. I walk in and sit down. A waitress hands me a menu. I thank her and scan over it.
The waitress comes back. I order a lasagna and a Pepsi. Turns out it's an Italian restaurant.
I open my phone and go to my page. I look on my feed, seeing more and more posts about the portal. Apparently the scientists shut it down. That's good.
The waitress serves me my food and I take a selfie with it. I post it on my instagram.
'Im out demon hunting. Having tons of fun! Have an amazing day!"
I start eating my lasagna and I scroll through instagram. I look at other people's feeds.
I finish my lasagna and get up. I quickly check my follower count, 90.2k. A lot larger than last time. I walk out of the restaurant, calling back thanks to the chef and waitress.
I go over to the mall and hop on top of the building. I sit there my hand on my rapier. I look around and grab my phone. I start playing music.
"Would you rescue me?
Would you have my back?
Would you take my call when I start to crack?
Would you rescue me?

Would you rescue me when I'm by myself, when I need your love, if I need your help?

I sing to the song. I look up at the figure landing beside me.
"Yes I would!" He says. I look up to see William standing there.
" You realize I am a demon hunter right? " I ask him. He nods.
"You know not all demons are bad, right?" He asks. I cock my head. I thought they all were bad.
He sits down beside me. He sighs. I turn off my music.
"Okay tell me. Everything." I say. He turns toward me.
" Okay. So some demons are good. Some just want to live beside humans regularly. But then there are some who want to rule the Earth. And eventually the universe... " He explains.
I look over at him. He's shaking really badly and his lower lip is quivering.
"A-And they wanted me. But I said no. And i thought that maybe I could help you..." He says.
I ponder this for a while. He seemed really distraught about the whole situation. I decide to ask one last question.
"Who asked you to join? And who leads the bad demons?"
He looks at me and he is shaking so hard.
"S-she does. P-p-Polly." He says. Tears start streaming down his face. I look at him.
"I believe you." I say. I hug him.
" I'm sorry. " I whisper to him. He hugs me tighter.
He turns to face me and I wipe the tears off his cheeks.
"I'm s-sorry..." He says into my chest. I pat his head.
"It's fine." I reassure him. I look up and around I see a demon standing at the top of the building.
"What a lovely meeting!" She squeals. She smiles at me.
William scoots out of my lap and stands up. He walks over to the girl.
"Ash this is Kaiser. Kaiser this is Ash." He introduces. I stand and go over to her. I shake her hand.
" Nice to meet you. " I say. She smiles.
"Nice to meet you too." She says. Her eyes are orange and she has red hair.
"So we're on your team demon hunter." She says. I nod.
"So you guys are good demons then? " I ask. William nods. I grin.
"Welcome to the club that isn't a club but a real life threat!" They laugh at that. I grab my rapier and sit on the edge of the building.
I stare out at the city. I sigh and feel William sit down beside me. I jump off the building. I feel William catch me. He lowers me on top of a restaurant.
"Why'd you jump!?" He yelled. I looked at him. I shrugged.
"I had to get off the building somehow." I say. I look at his wings. One is white and the other is green.
He hugs me.
"Please don't do that again." He whispers. I sigh.
"It's fine Will. It wouldnt have mattered." I say. He grabs my chin and make me look at him. My face flares up.
" It would have mattered to me... " He says. I try to look down but he grips my chin harder.
He looks right into my chocolate brown eyes. He sighs and lets go of my chin.
"Let's go. You have to get back to your car." He says. He grabs my waist and takes off. Kaiser flies beside us. She laughs when she sees how excited I am.
"This is so cool!" I yell to them over the wind whooshing past. I feel Will laugh and we land in front of the hotel.
" Want to go inside with me? " Will and Kaiser nod and we walk into the hotel. I walk to the elevator and they follow me in.
"Can you press 5?" I ask Will. He presses five and the elevator starts going up and Will grips the railing. I look at him confused.
"He's never been on an elevator." Kaiser says. I laugh and hold one of his hands.
" It's gonna be fine Will. " I say. He looks at me and nods. He grips my hand tighter. I chuckle.
The elevator opens and Will pulls me out. I smile. We walk to my hotel room. I open the door with my card.
I grab my stuff and walk out. We go back down the elevator. I check out of the hotel and walk over to my car.
Kaiser grabs the ket out of my hand.
"I'm driving! You two get in the back. You guys need to rest." She says pushing us in the backseat. She gets in the front and Will lays beside me.
She starts the car and drives off.
"Next stop Salt Lake City! Get comfy you two!" She says. Will and I lay out on the seat, him slightly on top of me. I see Kaiser look at us from the front.
I smile at her and she smiles back. I soon drift off to sleep hugging Will.
