Amanda

The ringing of a phone pulls me out of my sleep.

Grumpiness creeps in when I notice that it is still dark. "Hello," I grumble, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes.

School holidays started 3 days ago. Saturday we finally had that party that my friends were planning for Austin and I. Sunday, I again spent the day with Austin and stayed up till 2 AM chatting with him, so you can imagine how tired I am for this and especially to have someone call you at this hour.

"Do you want to have breakfast with me? And then we could head back to my house and hang out there." A voice asks, way too cherry for this hour. Even though I don't know exactly what hour it is, it's way too early.

"Who's this?" My finger hovers over the end call button as I settle back under my covers.

I hear a snort, "Babe, I'm hurt that you even ask."

A smile forms on my face, quickly vanishing. I need sleep, I was up till 2 AM.

"Austin, why would I want to hang out with you after you kept me up until 2 AM and I was with you the whole weekend," I whine, slapping the pillow next to me for effect, not that he can see me.

"Babe, isn't it obvious?" I yawn. "I'm awesome!" He exclaims. It's nice to know arrogance doesn't have a snooze button.

I fight back another yawn, "Well Mr. Awesomeness, it's still sleep time for some of us." I lean back against my pillows, shutting my eyes.

"Uh, babe, it's 5:30." He informs me like it means something.

"That is still too early."

"You promised to go jog with me."

At first, I hum in acknowledgement hoping that would shut him up but then his word register in my sleep clogged mind.

Dammit! Why did I even promise him that?

I check the time on my phone, crap. "Hold on Austin." Okay, you can do this.

I take a moment to calculate the time, I can be right on schedule if I could take a quick shower and I might even be a little ahead.

You can do this.

I throw my phone on the bed, a faint hello catching my attention.

Austin.

I pick the phone back up, "Yeah?"

"Breakfast after the jog?" Right, I forgot about that.

"Where we going?" I demand, not wanting to sound like I'm agreeing but the food is food.

"Its a surprise, meet you at our spot in 10 minutes.,"

I try to protest but he hung up, I wonder what's in store for us.

2 hours later I'm sitting in Austin's Mercedes in running shoes, black leggings, a sports bra, and short-sleeved jacket zipped halfway. I was panting since we just finished our jog and by now I'm starving.

He stops in front of Molly's diner, the ancient wooden sign with pops of teal displayed on the window. This is one of my favourite spots, it's been a while since I've been here.

I take a deep breath before opening my door, embracing the brisk air. The weather is all sunny, with white clouds and birds singing. Its wonderful day until I slip on a banana peel.

I prepare myself for the impact but it never comes, Austin grabs my waist and steady me. "Looks like I can't take you anywhere." He smirks.
