Taylor had been working at the parks department for a week now. It had been long and boring but she didn't have much work to do so that was a plus. She had exchanged roughly ten sentences with her boss. Each time, she had feared for her life. April looked sweet but she was anything but. Thank god it was the weekend and she didn't have to put up with that monster till tomorrow.

She had arranged to meet up with her best friend, Lucy, at JJ's dinner for some lunch. JJ's was one of her favourite places to go and Lucy was perfect company.

-

"So, how was your first week of work?" Lucy asked as she stuffed a waffle into her mouth.

"Yeah, it was ok I guess." Taylor replies

"Come on. You have been so down ever sense Katie dumped you. You need to just forget about her and move on. You'll find someone else." It was almost a month now sense Katie ended their relationship. They had been together for about a year and Taylor had gotten pretty attached. "Hey, you might find someone new at work. Is there anyone who you spend all day staring at yet."

Taylor's mind instantly jumped to April. She could get lost in her marron eyes. Her silky dark locks draped over her shoulders. A jawline that could slice you arm open. She really was p-. Wait, what was she thinking? She hated April. She was so horrible to her and half the time she didn't even acknowledge her existence. She was a terrifying narrsasist. Taylor quickly banished the thoughts rushing around her head.

"No." Her voice going an octave higher.

"Come on, I've been in that office when I was with dating Tom and I'm sure you will find someone." She gazed up at the ceiling, deep in thought. "How about that Andy? He's quite cute."

Taylor had seen him and he was ok. "Maybe." But really she had no intention of talking to him.

"Well I have to go. Have fun tomorrow Tay!"

"See ya Lou." And with that they both left the dinner.

Here she was again. Sat outside the giant government building. If looks could kill, this building would be a pile of rubble due to the daggers it was getting from Taylor. She had to go inside eventually but she couldn't Bring herself to.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a tap on her windows. It was Donna. Taylor had become close to Donna as she was the only person who seemed cool and would talk to her.

"Hey girl. You coming inside or are you just gonna sit there?" She laughed then pulled Taylor up from her seat. "What's wrong?"

Taylor just shuck her head and began walking towards the building. Donna narrowed her eyes before quickly running to catch her up.

"If it's April then don't worry. She is always like this you'll get used to it."

"She is just so annoying. Why won't she even talk to me?"

"That girl is harder to read than a book about rocket science, but I think she likes you so chill out."

"Cheers Donna." While she hadn't known Donna long, Taylor always felt she could trust her. She always knew what to say and was a good friend to have.

When they arrived at the office, April was no where to be found. The blue eyed girl walked over to her desk and sat down. She stuck out her bottom lip and furrowed her eyebrows as she scanned to the room for her boss. For a moment she felt relieved.

"Hey, Taylor, get in here!" A voice shouted from the meeting room. Taylor sighed and got up from her seat.

When she entered the room, April was pacing up and down with her hand buried in her hair. She didn't look up as she addressed her assistant.

"Close the door." Taylor obliged quickly. "Look, so I have this meeting in an hour. I don't have a clue what to talk about because I don't have any ideas on how to improve the Pawnee commons." She continued marching around the room without making eye contact with Taylor.

"Well, maybe Leslie has some ideas."

"No, how stupid are you, they have to be MY ideas!" Taylor may have been slightly scared of her new boss but she was not going to let her speak to her like that.

"At least I'm trying! And don't called me stupid. I've been here for a week and had just as many good ideas as you so far, so if anyone is stupid, it's you!"

April stopped. She lifted her head to face this overly confident girl. No one had ever spoken to her like that! She was the devil that everyone feared. People would cross the road to avoid her out of fear she would snap their neck in two. But this small, new girl was challenging her. April stared at the with lazer like eyes. Normally if anyone so much as said too much to her and looked at her for too long she wouldn't hesitate to beat them up. But this girl had just crossed the line and ran off with it. She stood still. Fists clenched. But for some reason she was unable to attack her. This cute intern had gotten into her head.

Meanwhile, Taylor was incredible proud that she had managed to rattle her boss. She had been trying to find a way to get to know her or at least have more that a 30 second conversation with her. This had broken down the barrier. She stared back at April's eyes. A little smirk creeping across her face. It felt like they had been stood there for hours until April finally broken the suspense by clearing her throat and looking away. Taylor's smile grew wider. She had broken down her steely demeanour. And just with a few sentences. Maybe these few months wouldn't be so bad after all.
