Making it through practice was hard. My eyes kept drifting to my denim jacket on the chair in the corner. Under it lay the key to my future, the DNA kit from Namjoon's parents. When I hugged them, I thought I would never let go, as if they were the bearers of my salvation. No matter what happened from here, Misun would be cared for, and Jihoon would be 'taken care of'. I wasn't sure yet what I would do, but I knew I had to do something to improve my sweet little girl's life. Yes, I said it, MY sweet little girl. For better or worse, Misun was now my responsibility and I intended to make her happy forever.
"I wish we could find out tonight.", Jungkook whispered as I picked up my coat, tucking the kit under my arm.
"It would be nice..."
"How long do we have to wait again?"
"It will take about two weeks for results, plus time for the letter to make it to us."
"Damn! That's so long. Are you going to be okay in that house with her?"
"No other choice. I'll be home soon enough, my love."
"I hope so, I miss you. It's hard to sleep in that big bed without you."
I reached up to hold Kook's face and bring his eyes back up to meet mine, "Soon. I promise. One way or another, I will find a way.", I gave him a gentle kiss in the car before exiting to head to my own, "Trust me, I miss you, too. Text me."
"As soon as I get back.", Jungkook replied, letting my hand go so I could get home and start the process.
I got in the car and started the journey home. Not even a mile down the road, my phone dinged. When I made it to a light, I checked to see what it was.
'Miss you already, Marshmallow.' - JK
I had to laugh to myself. My love, he sure was being a sap tonight. I get it though. He's lonely and worried. So was I.
'Miss you too, Pork Bun. You didn't wait until you were home.', I texted back quickly at the light.
'I couldn't wait.' - JK
The light turned green and I smiled at the text. I sure did love that man; I would be sure to text him when I got... home. No, it was NOT my home, I just happened to be living there temporarily. I hated this so much. When I got in, Misun came running, and like normal, Jihoon was nowhere to be seen.
"Daddy!"
"Hey, Munchkin!", I picked her up and gave her a tight hug and a poke on her cute little nose.
"Daddy! No!!", she giggled, rubbing her nose.
"How was school? Learn anything new?"
"I wrote FIVE WHOLE words all by myself!"
"You did!??", I acted extra surprised, but really, I expected nothing less from my miniature genius.
"Want to see??"
"I sure do!"
When I put her down, she ran to get her school notebook and came back clutching it to her chest with a proud smile. The notebook flew open and her little finger pointed to the page with some shaky hangul written on it.
"WOW! You wrote those all by yourself?"
"Mhmm!"
"What do they say?"
"You can read, Daddy!", she rolled on the floor giggling.
"Nope. You will have to teach me."
"You're silly, Daddy!", Misun kept giggling, but took the book and pointed to each word, "Cat. Dog. Pig. Chicken. Cow."
