The five of us walked through the scorch, our boots leaving footprints in the sand. I gulped, my throat uncomfortably dry as I took off my jacket and wrapped it around my waist, leaving me in just my tank top and bra.

"You okay?" Thomas asked as he appeared next to me and intertwined our fingers. I looked up at him and gave him a small smile.

"Yeah, I'm just very tired and very dehydrated." I chuckled slightly.

"Have you had any water?" he asked.

"Thomas, there are two bottles between all five of us, the less I have, the better." I spoke.

"You also need to drink, Y/N. I'm not going to let you die on me." He scoffed.

"I'll be fine, Thomas." I reassured, putting a hand on his chest. He sighed as he looked at me.

"Thomas." Minho spoke.

"Yeah?" he asked.

"It'll be getting dark soon." He replied. Thomas sighed and nodded.

"Okay, we need to stop for the night. Can anyone see anywhere that we can take shelter?" he asked.

"There. That ridge." Newt spoke, pointing to a dip in the sand.

"Perfect." Thomas nodded, taking my hand again before we started to walk again.

"Alright, that should give us enough fuel to last the night." Thomas mumbled, putting some sticks on the fire before sitting next to me.

"So, where are we heading?" Frypan asked.

"In the cafeteria, we overheard some guys talking about this safe haven. From what they said, it's like a rebellion against WICKD. If we can find and reach them, we'll not only be safe from WICKD, but we'll also be safe from cranks and the flare." Thomas nodded, looking at me. I gulped.

"Do we know where they are?" I asked. Thomas sighed and looked at the guys.

"That's the problem, no one knows where they are. Also, one of the guys seemed to think that this safe haven was only a myth, so even if they are real, we have no way to find them." Newt nodded.

"This sounds reassuring." Frypan sighed.

"I know that it's a big if, but if we can find them, we'll be safe permanently. No more running from WICKD. No more fighting cranks and trying to not get the flare. We can have the lives that were taken from us." Thomas nodded.

"You're right. That is a big if." Frypan spoke. Thomas sighed and looked at us.

"I need you guys to trust me. I know that I'm effectively asking you to trust me with your lives, but I've done that before and I'll probably have to do it again after this. But I would not risk your lives if I didn't think that there was something behind this. I need you to trust me with this." He spoke, looking at the four of us. I sighed and looked at the others.

"We trust you, Thomas." I nodded. He looked at me and gave me a small smile before looking at the others.

"Do you guys agree with that statement?" he asked. They looked at each other.

"We wouldn't have made it out of the maze alive if we hadn't have trusted you. That hasn't gone. So, yes, we trust you." Minho spoke. Thomas sighed and nodded.

"I suggest that everyone gets some sleep. We have a long day ahead of us." He spoke. The guys nodded before laying down against the sand. Thomas and I followed suit, laying back against the sand. I smiled to myself as he wrapped an arm around me, making me lie down on him, my head on his chest and my hand against his stomach.

"Can I tell you something?" Thomas mumbled against my hair.

"Of course you can." I nodded. He sighed.

"When Janson told me that you were pregnant, I felt a little bit of hope inside of me, for the first time since you arrived in the maze. And I know that he was lying, but the idea of us having a kid, us having a reason to make it, gave me that hope." He admitted. My eyes widened slightly and I looked up at him.

"What are you saying, Thomas?" I asked. He gulped and looked at me.

"I just...if this place is real, and if we make it, I want us to have a normal life together. Maybe start a family, even." He chuckled slightly. I gave him a small smile.

"I'd love that too, Thomas. I want nothing more than to have a normal life with you, but we have to work to get there." I nodded.

"I know." He returned it, looking at me. I gave him another small smile as I leant up and kissed him. He returned it, holding my face as he returned the kiss. I broke it and smiled at him.

"I think that we should get some sleep, we've got a long day ahead of us." He spoke. I nodded as I rested my head back against his chest, making him pull me closer.

"I love you." He mumbled into my hair.

"I love you too, Thomas." I smiled to myself, closing my eyes as I let his heartbeat lull me to sleep.

"Thomas, Y/N, wake up, come on." My eyes opened as I felt someone shake me. My eyebrows furrowed as Minho stood over me, gently shaking my shoulder to wake me.

"What's happening?" Thomas yawned as he also opened his eyes.

"Frypan found something." Newt admitted. Thomas's eye widened as he gently moved from underneath me before rushing up to where Frypan was. I looked at Minho.

"What did he find?" I asked.

"It looks like there's some sort of building a couple miles away, Frypan saw lights on early this morning, so he thinks that there may be people there." Minho admitted. My eyes widened as Thomas and Frypan slid back down the sand dune to our camp.

"Frypan is right, I can see people moving around there. If we leave now, I think we can make it by midday." He nodded.

"What are we waiting for? Let's go." Newt scoffed. Thomas nodded and smiled at me as we started to gather up our stuff.
