Meng Shao Fei had hoped he would never see Chen Hua again. But he had no such luck. His
ex-girlfriend showed up to his workplace, only four days after she was dismissed by Tang Yi.
Shao Fei and Zhao Zi were eating lunch in front of the station and enjoying the warm afternoon
sunshine.
To Shao Fei’s huge surprise Chen Hua smiled sweetly and sat herself between Zhao Zi and
Shao Fei. She put her hand on Shao Fei’s arm and leaned in to peck his cheek. Shao Fei jerked
backwards and almost dropped the lunchbox he was holding in his hands.
“ Chen Hua! What are you doing?”
“ I came to apologise of course!” She said giggled. The sound of her laughter made Shao Fei
shiver and not in a good way. “ Why didn’t you tell me you wanted to experiment? I’m an
open-minded person, darling.” She giggled again and kept clutching to Shao Fei’s arm.
“ Um, Shao Fei? Who is this lady?” Confused looking Zhao Zi asked.
“ I’m Shao Fei’s ex-girlfriend, but I think we can drop the ‘ex’, now that I know why we broke up.”
She kept giggling that grisly little laugh of her’s.
“ Excuse me, what?” Shao Fei shook Chen Hua’s hands away from his arm and stood up.
“ Don’t look so surprised, honey. Of course I’ll take you back now that I understand your need to
experiment with men. Are you sleeping with this sweetie too, or just with my boss?”
“ I have my own fiancé, thank you very much.” Zhao Zi muttered.
“ Are you out of your mind, Chen Hua? We broke up because of your unjustified jealousy and
cheating. I’ve moved on. We are nothing to each other and I’m determined to keep it that way.
And now, if you have nothing else to say, I need to get back to work. Have you finished up the
report?” Shao Fei directed the end of his speech to Zhao Zi and headed towards the station.
“ Oh I have plenty of things to say, darling. But we can talk later. Bye bye!” Chen Hua chirped. Shao Fei didn’t even bother to look behind.
Shao Fei was confused. He had no idea what Chen Hua was trying to achieve with her
behavior. Was this a plan to get her job back? Was this a plan to get Shao Fei back? No, that
couldn’t be it. Why would she want him back? Shao Fei ruled that possibility out. Was she trying
to be friends with Shao Fei and then humiliate him some way or another as revenge or
something? Sounded a little far fetched, but Shao Fei hadn’t forgotten the string of cocky lovers
prancing through his home.
When Shao Fei got back from work, Tang Yi was working in his office. He smiled his small,
gentle smile when he saw his fiancé walking into his office. His smile faltered quickly, because
he could sense that something was bothering Shao Fei.
With a huff, Shao Fei plopped himself down on a chair in front of Tang Yi’s desk.
“ Chen Hua came to the station to day.” He said. Originally Shao Fei had planned on not telling
Tang Yi about Chen Hua’s visit, but he had changed his mind. He didn’t want to hide things from
Tang Yi. He hated being kept in the dark himself and he knew Tang Yi hated it just as much.
“ What did she want?”
“ That’s the thing. I have no idea. It was really odd. She was acting all sweet and cheery. She
kept going on about how she understood my need to experiment, or something like that. She
even called herself my girlfriend. It doesn’t make any sense. We broke up over seven years ago
and she’s never contacted me during that time, not once. Why would she suddenly want me
back? I mean, it’s bizarre! I’m engaged for goodness sake.” Shao Fei let out a frustrated sigh
and rubbed his hands over his face.
“ She called herself your girlfriend?”
“ Yes. And she asked if I was sleeping with Zhao Zi too.”
“ What?”
“ Either she has some crazy plan or she has lost her mind. She thinks I’m experimenting by
sleeping around with men and apparently it’s all right and I can still be her boyfriend.”
“ Well I don’t like the idea of you sleeping around, experimenting or not. And I have no intention
to let you play her boyfriend.” Tang Yi said and resumed into reading the stack of papers in front
of him.
“ I hope that was a joke. I love you, Tang Yi, no one else.” Shao Fei pouted a bit and nuged
Tang Yi’s leg under the desk.
“ I know baby boy, I know.” Tang Yi assured Shao Fei with a smile. “ I just wished we could
finally be left alone. Would be lovely to have some time with you without ‘crazy bitches’, like
Hong Ye called them, loitering around every corner.”
“ We definitely need a crazy-bitch-free honeymoon destination.” Shao Fei laughed. “ Are you
finished here soon? Or will you let me make the dinner?”
“ I’m not letting you anywhere near my kitchen without supervision.” Tang Yi said and started to
put the papers away.
“ Hey, I managed to cook my own food for years without problems.” Shao Fei huffed in slightly
hurt voice. Truth was he loved the way Tang Yi pampered him with delicious food. He just didn’t
want to seem helpless in front of Tang Yi.
“ We can cook together, baby. I like it when we do it together.” Tang Yi said and rounded his
desk. He leaned down and kissed Shao Fei deeply.
Shao Fei followed his fiancé to downstairs. He smiled to himself, when he thought how lucky he
was to have Tang Yi. His lover might not be the easiest man to love, but Shao Fei thought that
all the hardships were worth it. When Tang Yi was still in prison, he once asked if Shao Fei
regretted promising to wait for him. Shao Fei had said that he could never regret it, since Tang
Yi was the only one for him. That statement was still holding. Tang Yi was the love of Shao Fei’s
life.
