First everything happened too quickly and then turned into slow motion. Shao Fei’s eyes went wide and he fell to his knees.
Tang Yi rushed to his side, Jack grabbed the woman in a chokehold and Zhao Zi alerted their colleagues, before calling for medical aid. Shao Fei’s brain seemed to switch on after a small black out.

“ Give me a jacket, shirt, what ever!” He barked. Tang Yi pulled his jacket of at once and pushed it to Shao Fei’s hands. He helped his lover to apply pressure to the wound without moving the knife, which was sticking out of the bloodied skin.

“ Do not dare to die on me, Meng Shao Fei.” He whispered.

“ I have no intention to die because of a crazy bitch, who’s after my fiancé.” Shao Fei chukeled and groaned, when the small laugh sent waves of pain through his body.

“ I love you, baby boy.” Tang Yi whispered in his ear so quietly that Shao Fei barely heard it.

“ And I love you, don’t you ever leave me.” Shao Fei whispered in an equally quiet voice.

Tang Yi held onto Shao Fei until the paramedics rushed to the scene. The woman had been dragged inside the police station, but Tang Yi took no notice to that, his focus was solely on
Shao Fei. He was terrified of losing him. The day he shot his lover kept over lapsing with the reality they were in right now.

He followed Shao Fei into the ambulance and kept holding his
hand all the way to the hospital. He murmured sweet nothings to Shao Fei’s ear to keep them both grounded. Shao Fei needed to survive, yet again.

“ You should not be running around like that, baby!” Tang Yi run to Shao Fei, who suddenly looked very guilty. He had been rushing down the stairs with no care in the world, despite the healing stab wound on his side.

“ Do I need to tie you down to the bed or something?” Tang Yi let out a frustrated sigh.

“ Um… yes please.” Shao Fei tried to give his lover a seductive grin, but ruined the effect by blushing like a teenage girl. Tang Yi let out a small laugh and guided Shao Fei to the sofa.

“ Stay put, you crazy boy. I’ll make you dinner and if I see you so much as move your toes, I’ll call my doctor to come here a sedate you.” Tang Yi said with a serious voice.

“ Come on, Tang Yi, I’m completely fine. I promise not to run around, just please let me breathe freely.” Shao Fei begged. “ I’m so tired of resting all the time.”

“ Well stop getting in trouble then!”

“ Well you need to stop causing them!”

“ Oh this is my fault now?” Tang Yi lifted his perfect eyebrows incredulously and frustrated anger
started to seep into his voice.

“ I’m sorry, Tang Yi. That was a horrible thing to say.” Shao Fei whispered meekly and avoided
Tang Yi’s gaze. He had just blurted the words out without really meaning them. He knew how hard Tang Yi worked to leave his old life behind.

The woman, who had stabbed Shao Fei, had been revealed to be a daughter of Tang Yi’s old
associate. Apparently there had been a plan to marry her off to Tang Yi, but the plan had been
called off, when Tang Yi went to prison. But the woman was obsessed with Tang Yi, even if Tang Yi said he had no recollection whatsoever of the woman. He said he wasn’t even sure
they’d actually met anywhere before.

Her obsession was not Tang Yi’s fault and Shao Fei never thought it was. Sometimes he just wished they could live in peace and not be haunted by the past all the time.

Slowly and carefully Shao Fei got up from the sofa and started to walk towards the stairs, with
his head hanging.

“ Where are you going?” Tang Yi gave Shao Fei a questioning look.

“ I thought you would not like to see my face right now.” Shao Fei whispered.

Tang Yi’s heart sank at that. He had been so proud of his lover’s progress of overcoming his self esteem issues,
but the situation was starting to strain his on emotions. He missed the times when their fights were more equal and the settling of their disagreements was not Shao Fei backing down with
scared expression on his face.

“ Please, sit down, baby. Let’s talk.” Tang Yi gently helped Shao Fei back to the sofa. He tenderly stroked Shao Fei’s cheeks and kissed his forehead.

“ We fight, we both say stupid
things we don’t mean. It doesn’t mean I want you to hide somewhere thinking I don’t want to see you.”

“ But I said a horrible thing to you. I didn't mean it, I honestly didn’t. You have to believe me.” Shao Fei tried to hide the sobs that escaped his trembling lips.

“ I know baby, I know. And I also understand it’s frustrating that my past keeps coming up time
and time again. It must be hard for you too. I mean you are the most honest and law-abiding
citizen I’ve ever heard of.”

“ But it’s not your fault. I see how hard you work.” Shao Fei sobbed silently.

Tang Yi wanted to scream Shao Fei to put up a fight. Tang Yi wanted a good, honest fight and mind-blowing
make-up sex afterwards. His lover being all fragile and beating himself down was not right, this
was not Shao Fei. Tang Yi’s trail of thoughts came to a sudden stop. The fragile Meng Shao Fei was his Shao Fei just like the one who never gave up and who would chase the object of his obsession to the end of the world. He was the one he had silently in his mind vowed to love and
protect forever. His Meng Shao Fei.

“ Shh… baby boy. Calm down. I’m so proud of you, you’ve been coping so well. I know the things that woman said caused you a major set back and on top of that she ended up putting
your life in danger. That’s something I will never forgive her and I’ll make sure she shall pay for it.”

“ Let the authorities handle her.” Shao Fei mumbled.

“ That’s my Officer Meng.” Tang Yi praised with a small smile. “ And yes, of course I will let the
authorities handle her. But if she doesn’t end up in jail, I just sue her with something else and
make sure she’ll be sent there.”

Shao Fei wrapped his arms around his lover and buried his face deep into Tang Yi’s shirt.

“ You’re too good to me.” He whispered brokenly. Tang Yi closed his eyes and planted a gentle
kiss on Shao Fei’s hair, just above that unruly little tuft of hair Tang Yi secretly adored.

“ No, baby, we are perfect for each other.”
