Meng Shao Fei stepped inside Tang Yi’s ever so luxurious shop. He always felt slightly
uncomfortable there, like he didn’t belong to this kind of world.
But he smiled broadly seeing
Tang Yi nearby with a young woman. Tang Yi lifted his head and gave Shao Fei a small, gentle
smile. Shao Fei was about to say something to him, when the woman next to Tang Yi looked up
from a folder she was holding.

“ What are you doing here?” She snapped like a mouse trap. Tang Yi arched one of his elegant
eyebrows.

“ Captain Meng is here to choose his wedding attire.” Tang Yi said and Shao Fei noticed that
Tang Yi said ‘Captain’ instead of ‘Officer’. His fiancé still called him ‘Officer Meng’, as an
endearment, even if he actually was a captain.

“ You are getting married, Shao Fei? With that little bitch you cheated me with?” The woman
narrowed her eyes and looked Shao Fei like dirt.

“ Chen Hua, how many times I have to tell you? I never cheated on you.” Shao Fei sighed and
gave Tang Yi a nervous glance.

“ Let me tell you, sir, you should throw this man out. He doesn’t have money to shop in a
business like this.”

“ So I gather you two know each other. Does his presence make you uncomfortable?” Tang Yi
asked with a mock concerne. Chen Hua did not pick up the warning signs in her boss and just
nodded and smirked triumphantly to Shao Fei’s direction.

“ Yes it does, you see, this good for nothing man is my ex-boyfriend.”

“ Well then we might have a little problem, since this absolutely perfect man is my fiancé.” Tang
Yi walked up to Shao Fei and kissed his cheek tenderly.

“ Darling, why don’t you go and take a
seat, I’ll join you shortly.” He suggested and set his hand on the small of Shao Fei’s back to
gently guide him towards the sitting area. Shao Fei was about to protest when Hong Ye entered
the shop. Her keen senses quickly caught on the tension in between people in the room.

“ Ah, brother-in-law!” She chirped in a delighted voice and gave a small peck on Shao Fei’s
cheek. She took a hold of Shao Fei’s arm and gave him an overly loving smile. “ Show me what
you were planning on wearing on the big day.” She said and steered Shao Fei away from Tang
Yi and Chen Hua.

“ Who was that woman? Tang Yi looked like he missed the mob-boss-days.” Hong Ye asked,
when they were out of hearing range.

“ That was Chen Hua, my ex-girlfriend. Haven’t seen her in over seven years. I think she pissed
Tang Yi off pretty badly.” Shao Fei muttered. He was slightly shocked by the fact that Chen Hua
still seemed to hate him.

“ What did she do?” Before Shao Fei had a chance to answer, they saw Chen Hua striding
towards them and start ranting on top of her lungs.

“ You dirty shirt lifting little whore! You pathetic excuse of a man! Always pushing your ugly face
to better people’s business. Why do you always ruin everything! I worked so hard to get this
position and now I got sacked, all because of you! I hate you, Meng Shao Fei! How dare you
leave me and go selling yourself to men?”

Her hateful words were painfully similar to the
rantings of the woman who stabbed Shao Fei. Tang Yi’s security guards came running to the
scene. Shao Fei was looking rather pale, but he took a long calming breath and looked Chen
Hua straight in the eye. I am a police. I deal with aggressive people on a daily basis. I can
handle this. Shao Fei encouraged himself.

“ You need to calm down now, or I might have to take you to the station.” He said in a calm,
professional voice, with a hint of gentleness and compassion, he always liked to implement in
his work.

Tang Yi was amazed by the fashion in which his nervous baby boy transformed into
Officer Meng, the man who forced Tang Yi himself to make difficult but right choices in the past.

“ Please escort this woman out of the premises. She is dismissed.” Tang Yi said and pulled his
phone from the pocket, when the guards walked Chen Hua out. “ Who did the background
check for Chen Hua?” He asked from whoever was on the other end of the phone. “ How can
they miss the fact that she is Meng Shao Fei’s ex?”

“ You are like some crazy bitch magnet, Shao Fei.” Hong Ye said.

“ I guess so, I mean, you seem to be standing pretty near me.” Shao Fei retorted, earning a
smack from Hong Ye.

“ Tang Yi, scold your fiancé.” She demanded.

“ Quit it, you two. This is serious.” Tang Yi snapped. He looked anxious.

“ Relax. I’m sorry, I caused a scene. I had no idea she was still so angry at me.” Shao Fei tried
to soothe his lover.

“ There is no need for you to be sorry. I just don’t like the idea of a bitter ex-girlfriend being after
you, that’s all. What if she does something to you?”

“ I’m a police, Tang Yi. I know how to handle myself.”

“ Why is she so angry at you, anyway?” Hong Ye asked.

“ Our breakup was not very pleasant. I mean breakups seldom are, but it was quite bad really.
Chen Hua was adamant that I’d cheated on her, which was not true. I just worked a lot. Maybe
too much, but that’s just the way my job is. As revenge she brought a string of lovers to our
shared home, before I had a chance to move out. There were at least six of them I believe.”
Shao Fei’s voice trailed away, when he looked lost in his thoughts.

“ You broke up seven years ago, right?” Hong Ye asked. Shao Fei nodded. “ Seven years ago
you were busy running after a certain mob boss. So you were cheating on her, after all. And
with Tang Yi of all the people.” Hong Ye sniggered. This time there was a small, amused smile
tugging Tang Yi’s lips.

“ She was right about you marrying that bitch you cheated her with.” He said and was rewarded
with Shao Fei’s brightly blushing face.
