"Do you want more milk?" I signed to Mila as she watched. We have to wait until she's three months to tell if she has a diagnosable hearing loss. Until then I want her to know a little sign language. She got excited as I signed milk and I smiled before starting to feed her.
I closed my eyes and embraced the silence. Justin was at work and Marlowe was at school. Being a mom, silence is a blessing and sometimes a curse. I felt Mila let go and I looked down at her. She cooed as I pulled my shirt down and burped her.
Marlowe and Justin walked into the house and I smiled when she came to hug me. "How was school?" I asked her. She gave me a thumbs up before sitting down at the kitchen table to do her homework. "Do you want a snack?" She nodded and I went to the pantry to grab the box of goldfish before putting them in a bowl for her.
I smiled down at the girls as Mila had tummy time and Marlowe played with her iPad. "Look at our girls." I smiled at Justin. He smiled too. "They're so sweet." He kissed my temple. I laid my head on his shoulder as we watched tv.
I turned off my bedside lamp as Justin got into bed beside me. I moved closer to him and laid my head on his chest. "Let's go to the house we like tomorrow." He said to me. "Ok. I really like it." I nodded. I felt him kiss my forehead as I fell asleep.
•••After getting breakfast, Justin drove us to the house that we fell in love with. It was closer to the hospital, Marlowe's school, and our families. Also it was the perfect size for our family of four. When he pulled up to it, I bit my lip when I saw the SOLD sign covering up the realtor's information.
"Someone bought it." I looked at him. "Yeah, It's us." He smiled. "What?" I looked at him. He grinned. "Ready to go see our new house?" He asked and I hugged him tightly.
