2. Maraudering Around at Halloween
The Next Generation
"I don't really like dis 'oliday," Fleur had complained, crinkling up her nose. She was currently adding the final touches to her baby boy's costume. Tonight they were going to walk around the Muggle estate of Hermione's parents.
"I find it fascinating," Teddy grinned as he pulled on his furred gloves. His costume was a werewolf and he was looking forward to it. James was sporting reindeer antlers and Freddie dressed as a dog as best as he could. Harry grinned at the three, noting as to what they were dressed up like. Moony, Padfoot and Prongs.
"Seriously, who'd go as those practical jokers?" Audrey, Percy's wife, scoffed as she painted Lucy's face. Lucy was going as a zombie which James and Teddy announced as boring. Their cousin responded by sticking her tongue out, before attempting to pout. Her mother told her to keep still.
"Mum, how long until Thyme gets here?" James asked, as Freddie pretended to kick an invisible stone. It turned out that their friend didn't live that far from the place they were trick or treating at. When she owled her confirmation of coming, she also announced that her sister would be escorting her this evening. James had seen a picture of Thyme's older sister and was instantly attracted to her. Thyme scoffed at his drooling stating that her family had Veela blood in their veins. When Molly tried to swat away that information, Thyme very kindly informed her that the charming abilities doesn't happen until they hit puberty. Something that Louis knew all to well. The poor blonde had to endure men crowding around his sisters in Diagon Alley, their father beating off the attention. Bill Weasley wasn't a man to mess with it concerned his daughters, something that Louis knew all too well.
"In about five minutes," Ginny called over her shoulder in response to James' question. She was currently braiding Lily's hair to make her look like a red haired version of Wednesday from the Addam's Family. Albus, who stood shyly nearer to their father, chose to dress up like him. James thought that wasn't too difficult since the two had the same fashion sense. The only people missing were Rose, Roxanne, Lucy, Dominique and Victoire. The girls had decided that they were too old for trick or treating. Which was odd since Rose was the same age as Albus.
Across the way, Hugo was sat in what appeared to be Puddlemere United robes. On the back 'Wood' was embossed with a large number underneath. Next to him was Ron who didn't look pleased as punch for his son's costume idea. Considering the red head was a Chudley Cannons fan, James could see why. Hermione was tucked under his arm, a hand running along his old man's belly. She obviously trying to sooth her husband from his distressed. Hugo seemed oblivious to his father's angst as he spoke animatedly to Lily with a small smile.
"They're here," a voice announced to the side of James. He turned to see his aunt Angelina standing there, wearing average Muggle clothes. She reasoned that she didn't want to outshine her son's imaginative costume. Freddie was embarrassed by his mother's fussing and James knew that he wished that his father was here instead. It seemed that George decided to open up shop for a 'spook-tacular' night and he couldn't believe that he was missing out.
"You three look brilliant," Thyme smiled softly, eyeing James, Freddie and Teddy. She appreciated the wonderful world of pranks and that was why she a good friend of theirs. For once her red hair was left down, revealing that she very subtle waves and just how dark her hair truly was. She chose to wear emerald coloured robes that went beautifully with her hat and on top of her head, sat a pointed hat. James pounded what she was until he spied the tatty old broom in her hand. She was the traditional wicked witch. "Ah, this is my sister. Rosemary."
James shifted his gaze over to the latter. Even at eleven years old he could appreciate beauty. Rosemary had strawberry blonde in cork screw curls and a heart shaped face. Her hair went up to naked shoulders for she wore a long blue gown. It looked like she had stepped from the 1930s or something, he thought. In her hands, she held a clutch bag and on her feet were sparkling high heals. Rosemary reached into her bag pulled out a jacket. Suddenly Teddy rushed over to placed it onto her shoulders. "Thanks," she muttered. It sounded like music to the boys' ears except for Freddie and Louis that was. Louis had no remote interest in anyone and it seemed that Freddie only had his eyes on one person.
"My, what a beautiful dress." Hermione announced, detaching herself from her gob smacked looking husband. She and Fleur stepped forward for a closer inspection. "Is this silk?" When Rosemary confirmed this, James could have sworn he heard a faint French accent in her tone. He vaguely remembered Thyme telling him that Rosemary went to Beauxtons instead of their school.
"How old is she?" James asked as he, Thyme, Louis and Freddie went off on their own, followed closely by Teddy and Rosemary who were talking about magical creatures. James was surprised by how much the two had in common.
"She'll be sixteen this Summer," Thyme replied, oblivious to her friend's eagerness. That or she chose to ignore it. "If she went to Hogwarts, she would be in her Sixth year." Just like Victoire, Louis had noted to them all. "That's right and I'm also pretty sure that your sister won't be happy to see Teddy flirting with Rosemary." This proved that Thyme wasn't daft, she had noticed the way Victoire would make doe eyes at Teddy. "I just those two what they're doing," it was obvious she was referring to her own sister and James' godbrother. For now they all hoped the two were forming a strong friendship and not flirting with each other.
