Tests haven't been bad as I thought. Although we've only done four.
Anyways, so far, no one has given me a report for the Rainforest Trip.
After prep, we were meant to go for siesta, but I decided to go to class, in case anyone had to give me anything. The only person I saw was Sandra and she was studying. No surprise.
"Hey Amara"
"Hey"
"what's up?"
"I just wanted to see if anyone was here."
"Good. That's good. I'm so happy I get to work with you guys, you're like the best people to work with."
"by you guys, you mean..."
"you and Ace. You're so responsible. I couldn't be happier to doing something with the two of you. You especially."
Wait. Did she just prefer me to Ace?
I feel so good.
Asides Amy and Precious, I haven't seen anyone that prefers me to Ace since he came.
"me? Why me?"
She shrugged.
"I guess you've been like a person I've been trying to keep to standard."
"To standard?"
"Yeah. Since I came in JS1 I've tried to meet your standard."
"I'm sorry, you know you're talking to Amarachi Amawe and not Ace Kingsley, right?"
She laughed a little.
"Of course, I know I am talking to Amarachi Amawe."
"So, what standard do you mean."
"your standard."
"huh?"
"It seems like you don't know, but you have a pretty high standard"
"I'm still not following."
"You. You're smart, pretty, funny, organized, kind, caring, and you always seem to get a way out of things. I admire that about you."
"Nope. I disagree. I'm clumsy, weird, unorganized, not focused and most of all not fit to have a so-called-standard. You, on the other hand, are bold, brave, cute, interesting to talk to, super intelligent, and fit to be a great, no scratch that, perfect leader. That's why you've been our class captain and are leading the rainforest trip."
"Thanks for the pep talk, but I still think you're fit to by one of my role models."
"Thanks."
"Has anyone given you a report yet?"
"Not yet."
"um... okay"
"So, what are we exactly going to do after we get the reports?"
"The three of us, that is, you, Ace and I, are going to crosscheck them, find their prices for those we don't have in school, and submit a general report to Mr. Emeka."
"Wow. It seems like we have a lot of work to do, and we are going to see Mr. Emeka more often than we usually do."
"Yeah and yeah. That reminds me, have you seen Ace?"
"Nope. Should I look for him for you?"
"Yeah, thanks"
I think I know where Ace is.
**********
At the music room, I heard a familiar tune.
Ace.
I hope Mr. Brown is not around.
I enter the secret room.
"hey"
"What do you want?" he asked coldly.
"Sandra was looking for you"
"ok"
I don't know why, but I didn't leave.
"why are you still here. You've told me what you wanted to... get out."
"I was already getting out; it's not like I want to be around irrelevant and useless people like you." I mumbled.
What did I just say?
Maybe he didn't hear me.
"What did you just say?"
Nope, he heard me.
"I'm irrelevant, right? Well Miss Amarachi Amawe, you are going to find out how painful in the neck irrelevant people like me can be. If I were you, I'd watch my back and sleep with one eye open," I turned to leave, "that's if imbeciles like you can even do that."
I turned slowly to face him.
"I'm sorry what did you just say?"
"You heard me just right."
"I'm not an imbecile"
"If you look like and imbecile, talk like an imbecile and act like an imbecile, then you are an imbecile."
"At least I am not an ignoramus pig, like..." I took a deep breath in. "Listen Ace, we've been friends for a long time, so..."
"Friends?! Friends?!" he did an evil chuckle "Amara we are not friends. Now get out. You know what, I'll go. I'm pretty sure Sandra's looking for me. Have a dreadful day."
Then he left.
Okay, what I have learnt from this is that we are not friends.
