ALEC EVANS

I knocked her out with a punch while she was staring at me with her big, green eyes.

"Ugh, damn." I swear. I throw her to the backseat, and I quickly take control of the car again. What am I supposed to do? Hell, I really screwed up. Nic will not be happy with this. Rule one was always Never Take A Hostage. Yes, we were criminals but we aren't animals. Ish. All I know is that he's going to be pissed. I let out a groan. Kill me now.

I drive the girl's car to our base. I hulk as I think about how furious Nic will be. I should start writing my goodbye letters. I parked in the rusty, abandoned building that was in the middle of no where and opened the car door. After looking around to make sure no one else is there, I pull the girl out and take off her mask gently. Wow, she's beautiful. I grin and pull a blindfold over her eyes. I already made enough mistakes. If she found out where our base was, I'd be screwed. What the hell? Since when did I become a perv? Not like pretty face could do a lot of harm - I hope. I carry her bridal style and I quickly went to room 619. The building was ours and though it wasn't the prettiest place, it was ours to call home. It belonged to the Royal's.

"Hey guys, I'm back but I've got a problem," I carefully say. Here goes nothing.

"What the hell are you talking ab-" Nic starts and then he saw the poor, knocked out girl in my arms. "What the hell, Alec!" My thoughts exactly. I should've placed a bet with someone. I'd be rich. Dead, but rich.

"It was a misunderstanding. I still got the money though." I let out a forced smile. I know the money won't make up for this mistake that may lead to the undoing of The Royal's.

The other guys crowd around me now to get a good look at the girl. They all give me either A, approving looks, or B, the 'what the hell were you thinking' looks. I give them all a little shrug.

One of the guys, Connor, takes her and puts her in a chair. I take the blindfold off to find her still knocked out. Well, damn. Kudos to me for a hella good punch, but I don't hit girls. What is up with me today?

"Nic, it's your call," Connor says.

"Ugh damn it. Tie her up. We have to interrogate her," Our leader says. "Alec! We were supposed to leave tonight! How the hell can we do that while we got this girl on our hands huh?" He runs his hands through his hair. Well, hopefully I can say goodbye before I die. Fat chance though.

"I don't know but she was helping me get the money here. I'm pretty sure she's a robber too." I was lying. I knew she wasn't a robber. I wouldn't have knocked her out if she was with The Queen's, but one look and I knew she was not one of us. Her clothes were fresh and she had skill of knocking the gun out of my hands. That takes a long time of training. Either she's a civilian or she is an officer, but why the hell would a civilian know how to do that? Oh, hell. I've doomed us this time.

"Alec spill the information," Nic instructs. He gives me a look over and realizes I'm hesitant. "Now."

I let out a little sigh "Left handed and she's pretty rich I would say. Her perfume just screams money." Why the hell am I lying to my boss? I have no damn clue.

"Please, Alec, I know you. You know more," Nic pushes. He wasn't wrong. I still don't know why I'm covering for her. Jesus Christ help me. What the hell am I thinking?

"That's all I know. She's pretty skilled," I lie once again.

"Well this is all your fault so while the rest of us leaves, you're going to keep an eye on her."

His words filled me with shook. No. This cannot be happening. Not over a girl, at least. Damn it. Damn it. "Here?"

"No, in outer space. Yes, here you idiot." He was going to kick me out. No. This is a damn dream. Well this is more like a damn nightmare. Wake the hell up, Alec.

"What am I supposed to do with her?" My body was still in complete shock, my mind racing.

"I don't know. Charm her into being one of us. She knows what you look like, Alec. We can't take the risk. Think about the Royals, man," Nic reasons. If I was in his position, I'd probably do the same thing to poor Alec. However, Nic has a point. It still hurt to know that they were all leaving me.

"Crap." I run my hands through my hair, careful not to make too big of a scene.

I've been with The Royals since I was 7. I just turned 18. My parents were sick, cruel people. I hated them. They never once cared for me. Hell, they threw me out when I was 5 and then I met Nicolas Tyler, preferably Nic, when he was 15. He had run from his house since his parents abused him. Somewhere along the line, we met out I'm the streets. Nic and I had an immediate bond. We knew there would be others out there like us. So, we started The Royals, for kids only, and we rob banks. We give money to those who ran away from horrible parents as well as the hungry, the tired, and the poor.

"Sorry, Alec," Nic says. "Whenever you finish with her, you can come to back.

"Wait. Are you kicking me out?" I already saw this coming, but it hurt even more to say it out loud. Damn it, damn it, damn it.

"Alec, you broke our number one rule," Nic clarifies and that was that. Nic heads out with the others. I get several pats on the back as the rest of them leave.

"You need me! R?" I yell. I must look bewildered.

"Sorry," R says. He was my best friend and he was ditching me, too. "Just come back when you're done, Alec. I'll be waiting, and I know you won't fail us."

All 12 of the members ditched me. Unbelievable. How are they supposed to rob banks now without me? I was Nic's "Sherlock Holmes". I like to be observant and that has helped us with our tasks.

I sigh and I look at the girl who was tied up. The undoing of my life starts stirring. I pick up my gun and put it near her temple- with a tighter grip this time.

"Damn. It wasn't a dream," She says as she bites her lip. I almost groan out loud.Damn it, hormones work with me. Not against me. Her eyes go big as she realizes she was tied up. She starts moving and tries to get out of the ropes bond to her ankles and wrists. When she could not get out of the bounds, she sighs.

"Civilian or officer?" I ask her after observing her as she tries again.

"Excuse me?" She stops struggling to get out the ropes. Her eyes meet mine and I knew I was done for. This was sexual harassment.

"Civilian or officer?" I ask again, annoyed.

"That's none of your business. Who the hell are you?" She was stubborn. Stubborn to her captive. Gosh, the damn fool, but who doesn't like a good, hot, stubborn woman? Challenge accepted.

I grin. "Feisty. I like it."

Author's Note
I'm beginning to think that I'm making all my characters snarky, and petty. Whoops, but Alec is the best. I love his character so much.
Keep in mind, it's Alec not Alex. Different pronunciation. I just had to short period where I was obsessed with the name Alec, and here we are.
I just revised this chapter and damn, one year ago I was even worse than I was now.
Anyways, I'll stop ranting. I hope you enjoyed this chapter!
