Monday morning came faster than I would have liked. The memories of my 2AM conversation with Charlotte were still lurking in my mind, threatening to have only been a dream.

The sun was beaming through the windows in the bedroom and Phineous was nowhere to be found. However, the obnoxiously loud sounds of pots and pans clanking together let me know that he was making breakfast. I should've gotten out of the bed and helped him, but I just couldn't stop thinking about that damn phone call with Allison today.

I hated myself for being so paranoid. It's not like I was going to accept anything she had to say. My mind was already made up, not by me, but by my parents. At least that's what it was beginning to feel like. The more I thought about it, the stupider I felt. Ever since yesterday at Phineous's art show, when he stood me in front of our promise and jogged back memories from the past. I remembered being a sophomore and signing up for marching band. Every day after school I'd go straight into the garage and practice with a different instrument, I wanted to be great... not for the school, but for myself.

My hands covered my eyes and wiped away the sleep, I just wished I could be obsessed with law and all the things that my parents adored. Of course that would never happen though, it would just be too easy if my passion was winning court cases.

After wasting a good fifteen minutes rethinking my life, I finally decided to get out of the bed and join Phineous in the kitchen.

He was standing at the stove, wearing shorts and a white muscle top. His usually gelled hair was light and fluffy, it bounced a little as he turned to look at me. "Good morning sleeping goblin!" He smiled before turning back to his eggs and waffles.

I ignored his rude comment and opened the fridge to get some orange juice, "Good morning."

"Someone's not as happy as I thought she'd be." He put his hand on his hip and leaned his head to the side.

"What are you talking about?" I was genuinely confused as I grabbed a glass from the cabinet and poured myself some juice.

He rolled his eyes, "Oh come on! You think I didn't hear you texting like lightening fuckin McQueen at two in the morning?!"

I almost spit up my drink, "Oh, sorry about that."

"Were you talking to who I think you were talking to?" His eyebrows wiggled as he lowered the heat on the stove.

"It was Charlotte, she texted me out of the blue." I brought my drink over to the counter and sat at one of the bar stools.

Phineous turned off the stove and plated our food, "I told you Talia, she likes you." He sat a plate full of eggs with a waffle in front of me, before digging into his own.

I shrugged as I seasoned my eggs, "I don't know about that, but I guess there's something there."

"God, you've always been such an airhead when it comes to people and relationships. No one just decides to text someone at 2AM unless they bloody like them..." he made a 'duh' face, "she's basically telling you without actually saying it."

I thought about his words and realized that he was right. However, there wasn't much I could actually do with that information. The ball was really in Charlottes playing field, she held all the cards with our relationship. Considering that she was kind of confused about her sexuality, it would be rude of me to come onto her. Especially now that I knew what she was dealing with mentally. The fight to discover yourself is never an easy one, and it only becomes harder when other people apply pressure.

Deciding that I wanted to change the subject, I chewed on some more eggs and thought back to Allison. It was almost 10AM and I was certain that she was somewhere within her huge JDRecords office waiting for my phone call.
