Charlotte's POV

My eyes fluttered open as I was being blinded by a bright light above me 'Charlotte can you hear me?' a voice I didn't recognise said. I didn't give whoever was talking in answer; I was trying to remember what happened. I remember my ankle getting hurt after the jock tripped me and then them surrounding me. One of them pushed me to the ground and then it hit me. My head was bleeding and I passed out. I tried to place my hand on my head but felt it being pushed back down.

'Careful Charlie, you're going to hurt yourself more' I knew that voice.

'K-kyle?' I looked to where I had heard the voice and there sat Kyle. His eyes bloodshot, dark bags under his yes and his cheeks stained with tears. As his eyes met mine I saw him smile.

'Oh my gosh Charlie your awake' he sounded so happy. Was I really out that long?

'Kyle where are we?' I asked him. He let out a sigh.

'Charlie, we're in the hospital, you hit your head badly.' He pauses 'You have been asleep for 4 days, I thought I had lost you' his eyes brimmed with tears again as he looked down to my hand and his. I tried to sit up in the bed, it hurt like hell but I did it.

'argh' I huffed as I final sat up, Kyles eyes dart up to mine.

'Charlie you need to stay still, your still rather banged up' I giggled a bit which made him chuckle. I know it's not the best moment to laugh but I needed him to be happy and not worried so I was going to play off my pain in laughter.

'I'm fine Kyle, you worry too much' I joke but Kyle doesn't seem to hear me as he looks away from me and I know he has something on his mind. 'Kyle? What's wrong?' he turned back to face me, his eyes pained with sadness; his hand shaking in mine.

'They said you weren't going to make it' his voice cracked at the last word. My eyes filled with tears as I realised what he has said, he has been sitting here by my side ready to say goodbye.

'Oh Kyle, I'm so sorry. I never want to hurt you and yet what happens I still do' I begin to cry. I hear Kyle get out of his chair as I feel arms wrap around me, I cry into Kyles shoulder 'I'm so sorry Ky' I croak.

'Shh Charlie you have nothing to be sorry about. I just thought I had lost you but you woke up. The moment I was told I knew you would make it. You're a fighter, you're strong, I wasn't ever going to give up on you' he kissed my forehead. I must've fallen asleep in again because I woke up to find my room empty. My arm was no longer hooked into an IV and my body was no longer as sore as it was. My head was still achy but that will pass, and I look down and see that only a small bandage was wrapped around my ankle. Not wanting to be in this hospital bed any longer I folded the sheet over and put my legs over the side of the bed. Placing my good foot first I try to stand up but immediately fall back as I put pressure on my other ankle

'Ow' I cried. Tears prickled but wouldn't fall; using my good foot I hopped over to the chair and sat down. The chairs uncomfortable but I had to move I felt dead lying in the hospital bed. I looked around the small hospital room; it was plain white with blue lining around the window and door. Looking at the bed I noticed on the side it had printed "City General Hosp". That's odd seeing as City General was like 2 hours from School, why would I be brought here? As my thoughts kept wondering an exhausted looking Kyle walked in. His face evident with shock when he saw my bed empty; then his eyes darted towards where I'm sitting.

'Charlie what are you doing out of bed?' his face filled with worry as he knelt on the ground in front of me and wrapped his arms around my waist hugging me tight. Hugging him back I felt filled with happiness, security, love. Kyle let go of me and picked me up bridal style out of the chair placing me back on the bed
