I spent the rest of the day with them and I quickly befriended them.

"It's nice to have someone new to hang out with. You will need to tell us stories about your travels" Oliver said. I liked his playful spirit. He seemed different from the guy that claimed he wanted to skin me alive.

I guess... he was just trying to protect his family. An admirable trait.

The blood I had earlier lightened my mood. It was fresh blood. I felt my heart throbbing in my chest, wanting more. But I resisted. I didn't want to get hooked on fresh blood.

Maybe... I should ask Xavier to send me some blood bags. I could indulge in a bag, once a week. I liked how alert I was. I didn't realize how cloudy everything was.

Not that I couldn't survive merely on Webb 4. I would never stop taking it. It was my only connection with Mason's memory.

We were curled on the sofas, laughing as the guys teased each other. Everly joined us too, and I realized that she was a fun person. Mitchel seemed too serious, maybe he had to be. I learned that the coven housed almost 50 vampires. They had around 30 travelling around now. And a few more who rarely lived in the coven home.

Gabriel and Claire had graduated last year. They were to stay around for a couple years, and then they might either take on travelling or just stay hidden for a few years.

"I doubt Gabriel is going to travel. Mitchel depends on him on a lot things" Ethan said.

"That's because the rest of you are too goofy to be responsible" Everly said.

"Sage, do you have any family members that were turned?" Aiden asked.

At the mention of my family, I smiled.

"Aiden, that's none of your business" Mia chastised him.

"No, it's okay" I said.

Gabriel walked into the room with Mitchel. Oliver was sitting next to Everly and he got up so that Mitchel can take his place. As if it was natural that he had to be seated next to his companion. Oliver came and sat next to me. Gabriel sat on the couch that was facing my right. I resisted the urge to look at him. His scent was strong, and it I had to ignore it before all coherent thoughts vaporized.

"To answer your question, no they didn't turn. Actually... once Xavier turned me, I never returned to them..." I said.

"Why not?" Sophia asked.

"I didn't know how to say goodbye... what excuse would I give that I needed to leave. I was born around the 1800's. It wasn't common for a girl my age to leave her home. I just... thought it's easier. They assumed I was dead, after a few years they reported me dead. I guess they presumed I was attacked by an animal, or something" I said. I sounded sad.

"I'm sorry I asked" Aiden said, sheepish.

"It's okay. You have welcomed me among you. It's only fair that you know a little about me" I said.

Gabriel was staring at me again. I started fidgeting in my seat. I didn't like how his eyes seemed to undress my soul. I haven't witnessed a more intense look before. If anybody else noticed, they didn't say a word. My eyes kept shifting to his, and when I tried to smile, he clenched his jaw. I guess he didn't want to be friendly with me.

Claire came into the living, and to my surprise, she sat on his lap. A frown formed on his face, but he didn't say anything or made any move to remove her from him.

I didn't know why it annoyed me. Were they a couple? I guess that explains why she asked about him earlier.

"I guess I should leave now" I said.
