The days passed quickly, and I was ready and packed for my flight to Chicago. I packed a few items only. Gustave had emailed me that I would be I would be staying at his place and I didn't want to be rude and decline his offer.

It was early morning when Mia drove me off to the airport.

"Call me as soon as you land" she says.

"I will. See you soon" I tell her and go towards check-in counter.

I was excited and scared of what I was going to learn this weekend. But before I decide if I was going to share everything with Gabriel, I needed to understand what this bond meant.

I didn't know if the way he treats me was how he actually felt or was it a defense mechanism for the way he felt around me. Especially since my blood might appeal to him.

I tried to nap during the flight, but I barely got any sleep.

When I arrived in Chicago, Gustave has sent his driver to pick me up. His house was half an hour away from the airport.

It was located in a quiet neighborhood, surrounded with so much greenery. The neighborhood wasn't that crowded, just a few houses, and it was obvious that the owners were well off. The car kept driving past all the houses, until we reached the last house.

It was a big white house, surrounded by its own bushes and trees. The moment I stepped outside, I was welcomed by the nice weather. Gustave has chosen a good place to retire. The driver carried my little suitcase and we made our way towards the house. The door was opened by who I assumed to be the housekeeper.

"Ms. Michelson, welcome. Mr. Plummer is expecting you. Would you like to freshen up before joining him?" she asked me.

"Yes please" I said. I needed to shower after the long hours on the plane. She nodded, and she took me to the room I was will be residing in. It was a rather spacious room, with an in-suite bathroom which I liked.

"You can find Mr. Plummer downstairs, in the living room waiting for you" she said and left. I locked the door behind her, and quickly went to shower. I was anxious to meet the writer. I was anxious of the information he will give me. I didn't know if I should tell him the reason behind my curiosity. I contemplated a lot of scenarios as I showered and dressed.

His house was decorated very simply. Nothing too extravagant, and I noticed that the house had a slight woman's touch to it. I didn't know what happened to Gustave's blood mate. I made my way around, appreciating the pieces of artwork he had around.

When I turned, I found a man, smiling at me. To my surprise he didn't look like he was much older than me. Yet the moment you looked into his eyes, the centuries he had lived, seemed to be itched in there.

"Ms. Michelson, it's a pleasure to finally meet you" he said, as he took a few steps towards me and reached out.

"The pleasure is all mine Mr. Plummer. Thank you for accommodating me in your home" I said, as I shook his hand.
