"Try me."

Did Virgil really want to listen to him? To what was going on around in his head? Patton didn't truly believe that. But if he was sitting there, waiting, then what was the harm?

The Moral side took a moment to ease his breathing, finding some sort of passageway to calming down. Finding some method to relax his tension that increased in his muscles before looking over at Virgil.

"Are you sure you want to hear this..? I don't want to upset you, kiddo." Patton questioned, clearly afraid to talk about it.

"You're not going to upset me, Pat. As long as you're okay. Then I can do what I can to help you." Virgil assured the other, moving a hand on his shoulder to soothe the father-figure.

"Don't you dare."

You don't get that choice anymore.

"You're going to expose all your filthy lies, Patton."

Good.

Patton took a second breath before beginning to talk.
"I've.. been a bad person," He started, dropping his head down. Anxiety looked confused, opening his mouth to talk - but Patton continued before he got a chance.

"I've been lying.. And I've been deceiving."

"You what?" Virgil perked up, already getting anxious - but he was also getting frustrated. Deceiving. That only meant one person.
Deceit.

"Please hear me out, Virgil.." Morality mentioned before continuing. "I've been having these sad emotions. I lied about it and.. Deceit got into my head. He knew I was lying to you all.. and he used that to blackmail me. To hurt me.. Because he doesn't care who he hurts. As long as he's happy, then nobody else is important to him."

Virgil let out a scoff. Patton wasn't wrong. "Patton. I have to ask you a question, and you've got to be honest with me. I need to know."

He cleared his throat before glancing at him. "Did Deceit show up? Did he talk to you?"

Patton shook his head. "No.. He didn't show up. He just spoke to me in my head, nothing more.."

Virgil sighed before nodding. "Alright. Good. Are you okay?" Patton just nodded before exhaling. "I need a minute to.. catch my breath. Could you.. give me a few?"

"Of course," Anxiety stood up before sighing. He was automatically terrified to leave Patton alone, but if that's what he wanted. He would respect it.

And soon enough. Patton was alone. Engaging in his own thoughts. His own dreadful thoughts. He lied to Virgil. Of course Deceit showed up, but none of them had to know that - right? It was just a simple dark side taunting him. Nothing too harmful, right? Gosh. Patton was so in denial of his own thoughts. Completely giving up now. Just not allowing himself to believe anything. He couldn't even believe what anybody else was saying, never mind his own thoughts.

But then there was a new voice. This time, it wasn't Deceit. Just a completely new voice, that came out of nowhere.

"You don't feel these emotions. You are just Thomas' core happy feelings. You don't have any other emotions. You're happy."

Patton believed it. It wasn't Deceit, it wasn't anything threatening. It gave off a soft tone. Something that made Patton feel so much more relaxed, that he couldn't help but just believe it as he smiled. He was happy. He was joyful. He was smiling.

His door knocked, with his head tilting over to see Logan in the doorway.

"Salutations, Patton. I hope I am not disturbing you." The Logical side apologised, allowing himself to walk in with Patton's gesturing, sitting himself down on a chair opposite the bed, where Patton was now laying. "How are you holding up?"

"I'm better." Patton replied, the smile still on his face. This voice was helping him. Of course he was going to accept it. If he could feel better, then why should he ignore the voice? It was helping him get through all these rough days.

"That's marvellous." Logan replied with a content nod. "Very good. Virgil helped you?"

"Say yes."

"Yeah. Virgil helped out a lot," Patton nodded, lifting his head up to make eye contact with Logan. "It feels so nice to smile once again. He really helped a lot, Logan."

The Logical side was beyond impressed. No tears, no reddened eyes, no puffy cheeks. Just - Happy Pappy Patton. Right?

"Do you need me to stay with you? Or would you like to be alone?"

"Alone. I'd like to get some more peaceful sleep," Morality replied before watching Logan nod and stand up, escorting himself out of the room to leave Patton.

"Good work. You showed him that you were happy. Because you are."

I am?

"You are."

But what about Deceit?

"No longer here. Just the two of us, now."

Who are you?

"You know who I am."

Why can't you show yourself?

"Would you like me too?"

Patton had to question the voice. He was talking with this voice in his head - socialising with him telepathically. He wasn't going to talk aloud, he would sound crazy. He soon had an answer before nodding his head.

Yes. I would.

"Very well, then."

And soon enough, Patton's door had closed. Not with a slam. It was just a gentle draft, as if he had closed it himself. His nostalgic room began to lose its bright colour. The wisps of gold, fading away. The blue wallpapers, the photo frames. It was all fading away. Vanishing into thin air. Into nothing. A lurking shadow appeared on the floorboards. It looked like the shape of a male, before soon enough a figure appeared.

Similar to how Deceit would normally arrive, but this was not Deceit. This was completely different. It was like an exact duplicate of Patton, however it looked so different. It had no colour. Grey, messy hair. It looked like the figure had white contacts. His clothes were dark. A light gray shirt with a dark gray jacket wrapped around his shoulders as well as black skinny jeans and a hood up. It looked just like him, just colourless. Expressionless.

Patton could only stare in complete horror and curiosity, wanting to find out who this new person was.

"Who are you..?" Patton called out, while the figure just let out a softened laugh.

"Clueless." The figure replied, before shaking his head. "I am you."

"No.. I mean.. Who are you, as in.. What are you to me?"

The Moral side was so confused as to what was going on. The gray-haired stranger just laughed before walking closer to Patton, sitting on the end of the bed before smirking.

"Greetings, Patton."

His white eyes were practically staring into his soul now before he continued to speak. Saying something that nobody had expected.

"I'm your denial."
