Chapter 13 - Thousands of Questions
"What are you doing here, young man?", asked the strange, very old man. Louis was startled and turned around so fast that you could say that it might've been like the speed of light. Of course, this was an exaggeration, but Louis was never as nervous as he was right now.
He looked at the stranger and swallowed hard. Now Louis had to come up with a quick explanation. However, it was not good for him to say that he was just sitting behind a car like a stalker because he wanted to visit a buddy.
However, he simply found no plausible, meaningful story that he could serve the stranger. This already seemed weird. If Louis said something wrong, it would not turn out well.
"I got bullied by some brutal thugs in an alley.", he lied to the old man. "I quickly hid here.". For Louis, this sounded like a good lie, which was confirmed when the old man nodded understandingly. "These gangs wandering around here make my wife and I just as worried. I hope you could distract them, boy.''.
Louis nodded and looked around, feeling paranoid again as the old man left him. Phew, that could have ended bad. Luckily, no police was called.
However, just as Louis collected his courage to finally open the door of his car, he watched something. A young black-haired man rang the bell at the door of Harry's house. The door opened and the man looked around. His brown eyes almost met Louis' blue ones. Fortunately, he was still behind the car.
And as fast as he appeared, the man disappeared again. The door closed and Louis had thousands of questions in his head.
Who was this man?
And why could Louis hear loud cries that sounded desperate and helpless?
Was it a mistake to get in the car and drive home quickly?
In hindsight, Louis realized that he already knew the answer to his last question ...
It was a big mistake.
