Oakley POV
*September 5 2014*
At lunch, Mara and I head to our table out in the courtyard. It's really pretty this time of year since all the trees are turning orange.
I'm about to take a bite out of my lunch, (which happens to be chicken fingers and salad) when Patrice, I mean Gwen, comes up.
"Logan Bell is having a party and we have to go!" she exclaims. Mara and I share a look, before Mara answers.
"We don't do parties."
I nod my head.
"Alcohol, drugs, dancing..." I shudder,"We much prefer having movie marathons."
Mara nods her head in agreement.
"Well, you guys are no fun." She pouts.
Shaking my head, I begin devouring my food.
.....
It's Friday night and Mara came over for our weekly sleepover. Each of us in our little blanket nests on my couches. Obviously in our pj's.
Mine are blue striped shorts, with a thin beige tank top with the Eiffel Tower on it. Mara's consists of longer purple striped shorts and a long sleeve brown sweater, complemented by wool shocks.
Anywho, we're talking and gossiping, you know the typical sleepover stuff when the phone rings.
Odd, I think.
My parents are out, leaving Willow with us.
"Hello?" I answer, hoping it's my parents.
"Ley? I neeeed you!" slurs a very drunk person.
"Gwen?" I ask, looking a Mara who picked up the other phone to listen in.
"Whoo else?" coughs Gwen.
There's a pause.
"Pick me up please." She says in a baby voice before hanging up.
"Well, that was weird." Says Mara.
"I guess we're going to a party." I mumble.
After a couple phone calls, we head out.
First, we drop a still sleeping Willow over at our neighbours; the mayor. I carry Willow in bridal style and knock on the door. Peter, the mayor's oldest son and the assistant coach of the basketball team, answers the door.
"Sorry about calling you so late." I apologize, handing Willow to him.
"No problem!" he smiles.
"I'll pick her up when we take care of this party business. Thanks again." I whisper, he waves in response, as I run back to Mara's car.
"Okay, don't panic." I mumble, looking at my reflection in the car window.
I decided to wear a white tee-shirt with a navy blue skirt that went a little shorter then my mid-thigh with brown flats.
"Ok," says Mara, "Let's split up. I'll do outside and you do inside. Text when you find her."
I nod my head in agreement and we set off on our jobs.
..........
Walking inside, I see teens everywhere. I soon get lost in the sea of teens, and soon find myself in the kitchen. It's very nice, with stainless steel appliances.
"Hey, Oakley." Says a voice.
Squeaking, I jump before realizing who it is.
"Don't do that Logan!" I exclaim, crossing my arms.
He chuckles in response.
"I thought you don't go to parties?" he asks, taking a sip of his drink.
"I don't," I state, trying to find my way around him. "But Gwen needs a ride." I add, leaving the kitchen.
"Do you need help finding her?" he asks again, insisting on not leaving me alone.
Weighing my options, I decide that he would be a valuable asset.
"Fine. I'll go upstairs." I reply and head up the stairs.
"You shouldn't go up there alone. Scary things might happen." He adds, following me up the stairs.
"Fine." I grumble, and so starts the most intense game of 'Where's Gwen?' ever.
bout 5 doors in, I open it to find Charlotte kiss some jock. My eyes go wide.
"Sorry," I squeak and slam the door.
"Don't panic. Don't panic." I chant, as I keep walking down the hall. I am then slammed against the wall.
"OW!" I yell.
"Sorry." mumbles Logan, as he giggles.
Great, he's drunk.
"Did you find her?" I wonder, voice laced in annoyance.
"Find who?" says Logan, absolutely clueless.
I do a mental face palm to the face.
"Gwen, you idiot!" I exclaim, before marching downstairs.
"Wait up, Oakley!" demands Logan, who cheeks are flushed.
"What?" I sigh, turning around.
He soon is very close to me, and I try to move back but the railing is up against my back.
"Can I tell you a secret?" he whispers. I however, being scared out of my mind, so I say nothing.
"I really like you, Oakley." He breathes, his breath smells like beer.
"I...um....look a spider." I say out of pure panic.
He chuckles and kisses me straight on the mouth. I then, out of reflex, knee him in the groin and run to find Mara.
When I locate her she is emerging from the pool.
"Hey, Mara. You okay?" I ask, my voice rushed.
"Yeah, just...you know. Wet." She replies, as she starts to shiver.
"Great! Sweet! Let's go." I exclaim, grabbing her hand and pulling through the crowd of people.
When we finally reach the car, we are both panting.
"Don't panic. Don't panic." I keep repeating to myself, as I start pacing.
"Ley, chill." Pants Mara. I nod and take deep breaths.
Just then, one of the basketball players, I think his name is Jaden (he's quite attractive I might add), comes walking up to us with a very drunk Gwen.
"I think she belongs to you." He mumble, putting her in the backseat.
"Thanks." Says Mara, who is the only one conscious and not hyperventilating. He gives a nod and walks back.
Our drive back is very quiet.
"You guys are very beautiful!" shouts Gwen, who comes in and out of consciousness.
"Shut up Patrice!" both Mara and I respond.
We drop off Gwen, then go pick up Willow. I put her to bed and we both change into my pj's.
By now it's almost 1 o'clock and by the time we get settled in, I couldn't fall asleep faster.
